Many of the latrines we build are done with donations from Rotary clubs. In November members of the Solana Beach ECO Rotary Club (California) and the Cache Valley Morning Club (Utah) joined together and visited our projects in Cambodia. Below we see them as the latrine and hand washing station for the Hem Kor family is constructed.

Latrines for Life
Building latrines is an issue that many people clearly recognize as important and are willing to support. We're continuing to respond through the Latrines For Life program. To date there have been 45 latrines constructed for poor rural families. We want to do a lot more. Pictured below we see the Krourn Lao family in front of the newly constructed latrine and Tippy-tap soap hand washing station. To the right stands Suy Leang, our Latrines For Life Cambodia director.

Smart & Easy Giving
(when you make an Amazon purchase online)
Your Amazon purchase can also help us build latrines. Amazon's "Smile" program will make a donation to our non-profit organization based on your purchase amount. It's free to you. The donation is from Amazon. Here's what to do:
It's been a while since my last newsletter. The reason is simply that we decided to transfer our website management and hosting to a new company, which took a considerable length of time to accomplish. We've also done some upgrades to the donate page making it a lot easier to use. Rest assured that donor transactions are safe and secure being processed using Authorize.net secure servers. And in the mean time we have been working on expanding the program by soon making a ceramic water filter available to the recipient families so they can have a good supply of clean drinking water. It's the final step of a three level plan to good sanitation:
1) a latrine
2) hand washing
3) clean water.

Donations have come from many individuals, but also many Rotary clubs. It gives me a great deal of pleasure to show the photo on the left of several Rotary club members who this past November traveled to Cambodia to visit our projects. Their enthusiasm is a testament to the fact that we're making a real difference for the poor in Cambodia. But we want to do more. I sincerely hope that many of you will join the folks in the photo and become a sponsor.
Many of you have seen the results we've achieved over the past two years, and have decided to make contributions. Some of those donations have been very substantial and will be funding the construction of many latrines.
Whether your donation has been for one latrine or for many I want to thank you sincerely on behalf of the recipient families. Every donation makes a significant difference that shows impact.

And, if you plan to shop on Amazon, don't for get to go through Amazon Smiles. It's a perfect way to let your purchases help our cause. It's Amazon's own funds that makes the donation. Just follow my instructions to the left under the video link.

Latrines For Life
Good sanitation is essential for health and well being, but it's not the norm in rural Cambodia. Old habits of poor hygiene, of using open fields in elimination of body waste, are still wide spread. The result is the contamination of streams and soils, the spread of disease, high rates of infant and young child mortality, and heavy caseloads of diarrhea and other infections. It's this critical issue to which we are turning our full attention. As we improve the health of one family after another the whole community benefits by living among neighbors that have a higher level of sanitation.
The cost for one latrine is $250. If you would like to assist in this area simply click the link below to reach our donate page. It will make a world of difference for a poor family.
Again, don't forget that easy way to have Amazon donate a little extra cash to our cause. Look to the left and see the detail of how it's done. Amazon makes the donation with Amazon dollars, not yours. It's smart, quick and so easy to do.
