NEW RESOURCES
ANNOUNCING OUR NEW GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION MODULE
Module 2: Understanding Power & Privilege through Anti-Oppression now available for download!

SCIC is excited to announce the release of the 2nd Module in our  Global Citizenship Education Modules Series, titled "Understanding Power and Privilege through Anti-Oppression".  This essential resource builds on the first module in the series,  Transforming Charity into Solidarity and Justice which was launched in 2015, but can also be used on its own.

Module 2 was created to address the gap in resources that deal with power and privilege, and that explore the complex global issues that humanity faces today through the lens of anti-oppression, anti-racism, decolonization, root causes of poverty, and environmental sustainability.

This 10 lesson, 105 page module focuses on increasing students' understanding of how power and privilege impact people differently, and on building students' capacity to recognize, analyze and challenge discrimination, and to work collectively in solidarity with people who are different from themselves.

SCIC is excited to launch the premiere of our short documentary, Educators for Solidarity: From Saskatchewan to El Salvador to stream at your convenience.

Synopsis:  In the summer of 2017, eight soon-to-be teachers from Saskatchewan embarked on a journey to explore what it means to be a global citizen, and to learn how they can prepare the next generation of students to make a positive impact in our interconnected world.

O n the way, they learn the importance of building relationships, experience what it means to act in solidarity, and begin to understand our shared global challenges from the perspective of those who are most deeply impacted.

SPECIAL MEETING ON EDUCATION ISSUES | REGINA PUBLIC SCHOOL DIVISION
WED. FEBRUARY 28 @ 7 PM, Regina Public School Division Office (1600 4th Ave.)
Using a clause under the Education Act Regulations, citizens have successfully called for a Special Meeting on Education Issues for residents of the Regina Public School Division.  There are a few important motions being made by members of the community and parents proposing a Peace Studies program, as well as renaming Davin School in line with the TRC findings.

Please consider if you are are able to lend your support by speaking in favour of these motions, or simply to attend, or send in comments in place of your presence.

This is an opportunity to bring forward ideas for a progressive, forward-thinking public education system. The agenda is open, and attendees can propose motions for voting on by the assembly.
