Lay Your Body Down!! 11/20/16

4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!!!
MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY!!!!
As I lay in the darkness early this morning, my heart and thoughts turned toward our Savior-THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I REMEMBERED how He set the bar for GREATNESS-by "LAYING ASIDE" Who He was and Who He IS!
Philippians 2:6-7 (KJV)
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
I had a poignant moment this morning as I clicked on a video of a man I long considered a great man of God and a FRIEND-RUSTY GOODMAN:
How well can I still see him singing his song- WHO A M I-on the stage at GHC!!
The auditorium was dark as the spotlight shone against a background of deep blue as this humble man of God joyfully sang:

WHEN I THINK OF HOW HE CAME SO FAR FROM GLORY
CAME TO DWELL AMONG THE LOWLY SUCH AS I.
TO SUFFER SHAME AND SUCH DISGRACE-
ON MOUNT CALVARY TAKE MY PLACE.
THEN I ASK MYSELF THIS QUESTION-
WHO AM I?
I'M REMINDED OF HIS WORDS, "I'LL LEAVE YOU NEVER
IF YOU'LL BE TRUE, I'LL GIVE TO YOU LIFE FOREVER.'
OH, I KNOW THERE IS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE
TO DESERVE GOD'S ONLY SON!
HE FIGHTS MY BATTLES UNTIL THEY ARE WON-
FOR WHO AM I.
WHO AM I THAT A KING WOULD BLEED AND DIE FOR?
WHO AM I THAT HE WOULD SAY, "NOT MY WILL, THINE LORD?"
THE ANSWER I MAY NEVER KNOW
WHY JESUS EVER LOVED US SO
THAT TO AN OLD RUGGED CROSS HE'D GO
FOR WHO AM I?"
WOW!!!!????? WHAT AN EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW!!!
To "LAY ASIDE" what we want for a higher and better cause/purpose!!!
I "learned" long ago the KEY TO HAPPINESS:
TO BE INVOLVED IN AND DEDICATED TO SERVING!!!!
When I say, "I LEARNED," does not mean I mastered this art!!!!

I DIE DAILY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Being a Christian is NOT something we did yesterday!
Being a Christian means "dying daily" to what we want-the "LAYING ASIDE" of our needs and desires.
Matthew 5:41 (KJV)
41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
OUCH!!??
In closing, how well do I remember the head nurse at Kennestone Hospital!!
My precious daughter, Amanda, lay unconscious in ICU as she took my wife and I outside her room.
She lovingly and patiently explained the seriousness of her injury and then what the COST on our lives would be if she lived.
