VIDEO OF THE MONTH: Stanley McChrystal - Listen, Learn...Then Lead

Four-star general Stanley McChrystal shares what he learned about leadership over his decades in the military.

How can you build a sense of shared purpose among people of many ages and skill sets? By listening and learning - and addressing the possibility of failure.

If there is one thing four-star general McChrystal understands about leadership, it's how to manage change. He has dealt with changes in warfare, technology, and even military culture while rising to the top of the ranks in the effort to keep our troops safe and effective. Learn from the former commander about how to stay agile amid the rigid and unexpected.

C.L.I.C.K - A Road Master Program Valedictorian's Keynote Speech

At the November 17th T2 Center's graduation ceremony,  a few transportation professionals were invited to deliver keynote speeches.
Scott Yeomans, an
Scott Yeomans, Amy Jackson-Grove, Anna Barry and Peter Kurpeawski
Associate Manager for the Town of South Windsor and the Road Master Program valedictorian's speech was truly inspirational and taught us what C.L.I.C.K means.

C = Communication - Communication requires clear dissemination of information.

L = Leadership - Leadership involves taking information  and sharing of knowledge through clear communication and vision.

I = Inspiration - Inspiration is the energy that makes us do the things we do. It involves common sense, ingenuity and a sense of duty.

C = Camaraderie - Camaraderie is a mutual trust and friendship. Although we may not see each other socially after hours we must be social while at work.

K = Knowledge - Knowledge is the things we learn from one another and through the use of programs like what the  T2 Center offers.

So there it is, C.L.I.C.K. It's a snap. Or is It? Take one of those elements away and the job just gets harder. Each element works in concert and are co-dependent with the other. Alone they are great things to have and do, but together they become a system.
A system of effectiveness!

Well said Scott! Words to live by.
What's Next: T2 Professional Development Opportunities

Are you aware that the T2 Center now offers an additional professional development opportunity, the Connecticut Safety Champion Program?
This past year, class topics included Modern Roundabouts, Sign Installation & Maintenance, ADA - Self Evaluation and Transition Plans, among others.

We are currently in the process of developing our list of classes for 2017. Road Safety Assessments for Bicycles and Pedestrians and Construction Zone Safety Inspection are just a few of the topics we have already chosen. Keep your eye on the T2 Center's online training schedule. The 2017 class offerings for all of our programs will be posted in early January.

Participants who complete 40 credit hours of courses in our Safety Academy will receive the designation as a Connecticut Safety Champion. As with our other training programs, those who meet the requirements will receive a certificate of completion and a small gift in acknowledgment of their accomplishment.
