Announcements
Wedding of Canon Jacobs
The Rev. Canon Gregory A. Jacobs and the Honorable Sheila Abdus-Salaam With joyful hearts we share the news of the marriage of the Rev. Canon Gregory A. Jacobs and the Honorable Sheila Abdus-Salaam on Saturday, June 25.

The Rt. Rev. Mark M. Beckwith, Bishop of Newark, and the Rt. Rev. Gayle E. Harris, Bishop Suffragan of Massachusetts, co-officiated at the ceremony held at the Greater Newark Conservancy in the presence of a small group of family and close friends.

The bride, who serves as an Associate Judge of the Court of Appeals for the State of New York, is keeping her name.

Canon Jacobs will return to the office on July 26.

O God, you have so consecrated the covenant of marriage that in it is represented the spiritual unity between Christ and his Church: Send therefore your blessing upon these your servants, that they may so love, honor, and cherish each other in faithfulness and patience, in wisdom and true godliness, that their home may be a haven of blessing and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. (BCP p. 431)

Workshop: Finding God in the Spaces, Finding Space for God
Wednesday, July 20, 6 PM
At Grace Church, Nutley
We hear a lot about a Rule of Life - it sounds intimidating and deep. Guess what? It doesn't have to be! A simple definition of a Rule of Life is "God interrupting our busy lives." In other words, we should each build a sense of God's presence into our daily agendas - on our own terms.

A panel of speakers from the Empowering Action Team of Diocesan Council will share examples of their own spiritual practices in hopes that attendees will see that these glimpses of God's grace are all around us in prayer, walking a labyrinth, creating art, knitting, gardening, yoga, and more. Find out more.

Contact information needed for Convention Deputies
The 143rd Annual Diocesan Convention, Joining God in Shaping our Future, will be held January 27-28, 2017. We are looking forward to building relationships with the deputations and each individual deputy. In building these relationships, we look forward to the opportunity to communicate important information directly with each individual attending the Convention.

As we did very successfully last year, we are again asking all congregations who have already elected their deputations for the 2017 Annual Convention to please provide contact information for your deputies.

This does not replace the official registration process (which will happen in November - December). It will simply help us to share important information with deputies and continue to improve our current system. The handful of congregations who elect their deputations in the fall preceding Convention will receive all information previously supplied to individual deputies to keep them in the information loop.
