Leadership Springfield is well underway with the 2018 class having completed Orientation, the Opening Retreat and the October session. The participants are currently working to select their team projects, which will benefit local non-profit organizations.

During the Opening Retreat, the participants had the opportunity to learn more about themselves and their fellow classmates. They were exposed to different leadership and personality styles and learned techniques on how to effectively manage these different styles. O’Shea Builders served as the host location for the day and McDonald’s (McGraw Enterprises, Inc.) provided coffee.

The focus of the October session was Arts & Tourism. The class heard from a variety of speakers and toured multiple facilities. Each participant will leave the program with a professional headshot and class photo thanks to Sarah Petty Photography . The Hoogland Center for the Arts served as the host location for the afternoon.

The upcoming November session will focus on Tradition and Innovation in Health Care. SIU School of Medicine sponsors this session by serving as a host location and providing lunch for the group. The participants will learn about the current status of health care in Sangamon County from hospital leadership and will be able to tour multiple facilities.
