Dear Hillcrest Family,

I’m excited as we prepare to launch into our series on leadership from Nehemiah on Sunday, February 11.

Leadership isn’t about titles or offices. Leadership is influence. Most of us underestimate the amount we have. Nehemiah was an unlikely construction site manager who was given remarkable influence with those in authority over him and those he was in authority over. He demonstrates how leadership can flow both ways.

Begin now to ask the Lord who we have been given influence with -- family members, coworkers, friends, and more. It is our privilege and responsibility to influence them for the kingdom of God.

Also, I’d like to invite you to subscribe to a podcast we’ve been putting together for the past few weeks. The  Hillcrest Covenant Impact Podcast  is a bite-sized message designed to help you have an impact and make a difference Monday through Saturday. Several times a week we record a five minute devotional or interview someone of interest. Recently, I interviewed Nate Severson on the real benefit of youth missions. Take a moment and listen--and share with a friend who may need a little encouragement.

Volunteer and Make a Difference
Say YES to the next generation.

Exciting growth is happening in HCKids! Last April we expanded the children’s ministry to offer programming at the 10:45 service. Currently we're averaging around 40 children during that hour with 90% from families who are new to Hillcrest. God has been so faithful in allowing us to minister to families--and with growth comes the need to expand our volunteers.

Invest in a child's life.

Volunteering is a simple decision to invest in a child’s life. We set you up with everything you need to focus on building relationships with small groups of kids. It means so much when someone remembers a child had a soccer game or a hard test that week. Relationships matter because they drive trust and trusting adults mimics what it’s like to trust God and hear from Him. If you are interested in building relationships with kids and seeing what it looks like to join the HCKids Team, or want to explore that possibility, email Nicole Guthrie at
