Leaping into 2017, One Child at a Time

Welcome to 2017!

Let me first thank everyone for participating in another successful campaign at the end of 2016. It was one of best months in Child Foundation history and we cannot thank you enough. It is your enthusiasm and support that has motivated us to plan for an even better leap into 2017.

Planning our (big) project is already in the works. Nowruz (the Persian New year) is only a few short months away. It is a time when people's hearts are most open to giving to the least fortunate . With a new year ahead for many of our children, we look forward to changing their lives. By this Nowruz, we want to provide at least 100 scholarships to students in need, so they can gain a head start and leap into new year the way we have leaped into 2017. 

We are also preparing eidi (New Year's gift packages) which will contain new clothes and shoes just in time for Nowruz. Stay tuned for more exciting details in weeks ahead.

More Coal For Our Children

The Child Foundation office in Mazar-e-Sharif continued delivering coal packages to the children you support. The winter in Afghanistan is colder than usual and the fierce winter weather has caused the death of more than 40 people. Many expect the number will rise as most live in poor conditions in mud houses with plastic tarpaulin roofs. Services are extremely limited and often absent altogether. It is very difficult for families to purchase necessary firewood, clothing, and other essential winter items.   

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Child Foundation was able to purchase coal to warm the homes of our students. If you would like to participate in this initiative, please donate here. 
Donor X Renovates Ali's House
Ali lost his father to a heart attack a few years ago. His mother has also suffers from rheumatism arthritis and cannot work. They all live in their grandmother's house which is in very bad condition.

When Ali's sponsor found out about the condition of their home, he offered to renovate his house. The Kitchen, bathroom, family room and the yard was renovated in a very short time. Ali and his mother still cannot believe they are living in the same house.

Ali's sponsor is a generous person who wants to remain anonymous. He is supporting 24 children through Child Foundation and provides them with monthly stipend as well as other gifts.

On behalf of Ali's family and the staff of Child Foundation, we thank you for your incredible kindness and generosity. You are a true angel.

The mission of Child Foundation is to help children in need, who have been identified as high achievers to remain in school. We believe that education can move a child beyond the stigma of poverty and give that child the tools to reach his or her true and full potential. Since our inception in 1994, Child Foundation has provided basic necessities to children living in poverty or hardship, enhancing the quality of life for these children as well as their respective families. By providing access to education, Child Foundation hopes to eliminate children prematurely leaving school, and in certain cases, avoid early matrimony.
Hi, I'm Mohammad Amin!
I am eight-years-old from the city of Yasooj and study in second grade. My parents have divorced and my father is no longer present in our family and nor supported us. After their divorce my mother went back to college to get a degree but unfortunately has not been able to find a job to support us.

I live with my mother in my grandfather's house. He is an old man with severe back pain and multiple herniated disks. He is no longer able to work.Our family has a hard time getting by.

I hope you can help me to stay in school so I may work towards a better and brighter future for myself and my family.  

 
Kosar New Appliances, A Gift from Donor X
Kosar is 12 years old. She is a hardworking student from in Fonooj. She lives with her family in an old house with no working appliances. Kosar is one of the children who is supported by our generous wonderful donor, Mr. X.
 
Last month when our generous donor found out about Kosar's living condition, he sent her a brand new stove top and a refrigerator. The family is in disbelief by his kindness and send him best wishes. Thank you Mr. X.
Tabriz School
A generous lady donated a large piece of land to be used for building a school for children in need in Tabriz. 

Child Foundation has finished surveying the land and have blue prints ready.
