Elephant Foot Care Workshop
Presented by Tiger Tops Elephant Camp, Nepal,  and
Elephant Aid International

A life-changing experience with Carol Buckley, one of the world's foremost authorities on the care and welfare of elephants, and a rare chance to enter the lives of elephants!

Elephant Aid International (EAI) and Tiger Tops Elephant Camp are pleased to present the Elephant Foot Care Workshop, a unique hands-on opportunity to develop elephant foot trimming skills while you experience how elephants live
-- chainfree -- at Nepal's foremost conservation resort.

Carol Buckley, EAI's founder and CEO, has more than four decades experience rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for elephants in captivity. Carol is known for her extensive knowledge of elephant values, physiology and culture. She has developed revolutionary non-dominant management systems and holistic healthcare programs that support the recovery of elephants while ensuring their autonomy.

For the last six years, Carol has focused her efforts in Asia, in particular Nepal, providing foot care, teaching more humane methods of elephant management and building solar powered chain-free corrals. Her work has given her a deep understanding of the lives of working elephants and the people who care for them, the mahouts (handlers).

Deadline to register is July 1!

In the Elephant Foot Care Workshop, you will:
  • be tutored in elephant foot trimming and foot care
  • expand your knowledge of elephant health and welfare
  • learn through observation and hands-on experience how the Tiger Tops family of elephants live and are managed
  • get to know the people who spend their lives with the elephants, the mahouts
In the morning, you will accompany the elephants on their daily grass collecting excursions. In the afternoon, you will hike in Chitwan National Park and observe the elephants as they select, collect and eat a variety of natural vegetation, and then enjoy their playful antics as they refresh themselves in the Narayani River.

In addition to assisting the mahouts with kuchi making and grass collecting in the presence of the resident elephants, each participant will learn foot trimming skills under Carol's direction.

As the sun sets on the tranquil Tiger Tops Elephant Camp, you will watch the elephants in their corrals, playing, grazing and socializing with their friends.
