Learning Communities Hosts an Evening with Gina Barreca

Dr. Gina Barreca , author of the brand-new  If You Lean In, Will Men Just Look Down Your Blouse? Questions and Thoughts for Loud, Smart Women in Turbulent Times , has appeared on  20/20, The Today Show, CNN,  the  BBC, Dr. Phil, NPR and  Oprah  to discuss gender, power, politics, and humor.

100 Mentors
April 2nd
1:00-6:00 p.m.
The 100 Mentor conference is being hosted by the Academic Achievement Center, First Year Programs, and Learning Communities. Students will participate in workshops presented by engaging, inspirational speakers on a variety of topics such as the key principles of mentoring, transferring mentoring into your career, and self-care for the helper. This is also a great opportunity for you to network with other peer mentors. Only 100 mentors will be accepted so please fill out the registration form today.

April 10th-April 16th

Earn Points for your Learning Community:

Theme Day Participation:
*Take a picture of you and your friends participating in each of the themed days
*Post the photo to Instagram, Twitter, and/or your LC's Facebook page using #LCSpiritWeek
*If you go to the Learning Community Office (Rowe 214 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday) to take your picture in the Spirit Week Photo Booth you will earn 3 points per picture!

Event Participation:
*Dodgeball Tournament
  First Place: 40 points
  Second Place: 25 points
  Third Place: 10 points
  5 points for each team that signs up and participates
*Learning Community Day of Service
  10 points per student that participates from each community
*Learning Community End of the Year Luau
  1 points per student that attends from each community

Photo Competition:
*Winning community receives 40 points

Donating to the FYP&LC ignite fund will help provide innovative new programming such as: first year international opportunities, contemporary guest speakers, immersion learning, and service learning. We have a goal of $3800.00 with all of our proceeds going towards supporting the First Year Program & Learning Communities Fund.

Welcome back from Spring Break!  We are looking forward to a fun 6 weeks left of the Spring semester!  April is a busy month with events, Learning Community Spirit Week and many end of the year banquets.  We hope you will participate in everything that you can!
