NATIONAL BLACK NURSES ASSOCIATION 29TH ANNUAL NBNA DAY on CAPITOL HILL,  Thursday, February 2, 2017, The Washington Court Hotel,  525 New Jersey Avenue, NW, Washington, DC .    
  
 
NBNA is excited that over 300 nurses and nursing students are expected to attend the 29th Annual NBNA Day on Capitol Hill.  Please find in the attachment, the "NBNA Legislative ToolKit" that will facilitate an educational - informational experience with your nursing colleagues and Members of Congress. The theme is "Addressing the Epidemic of Violence: NBNA's Call to Action."

The day long program will start at 7:00 a.m. with a continental breakfast.   The luncheon will address Violence Reduction and the State of the Nation's Health and Economy with Members of Congress and with a high level HHS official. Speakers will discuss public policy issues relevant to the nursing profession and health care in general.  Members of Congress will bring brief greetings during the afternoon session. Our Capitol Hill visits will occur approximately from 2:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. You should make your appointments NOW (if you have not already) or whenever the Member of Congress or Hill staff person is available.  The debriefing session focuses on what you discussed - learned from your Members of Congress visit.  The debriefing session will begin at 5:30 p.m.,  followed by a 6 p.m. reception .   
 

 
 
We will be asking the entire membership to send Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram messages on Thursday, during the NBNA Day on Capitol Hill and NBNA Day on Friday, February 3rd  after Capitol Hill Day.  The time takes about two minutes to establish an account on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.  NBNA will be sending out messages about the NBNA legislative agenda for you to share and repost.  The Instagram messages will go out from your NBNA colleagues who will meet with their Members of Congress.
 
In honor of heart health and women, please wear something "red" on NBNA Day.
