Asphalt Cinema Features Lego Batman, Games with Prizes, Art, Music, and Fun
 
 
Take the family out for an evening of free fun on Friday, July 21. Enjoy the second of three Asphalt Cinema events at Impett Park, 3180 West 153rd Street. Until dusk, games with prizes will be offered by local merchants. These include the new Kamm's Corners Ice Cream Company, Style Mutt, the West Park Kiwanis Club, the West Park Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, the West Park Family YMCA, and more. Kids are sure to enjoy the  bounce house provided by our friends at Renew Church. Lego Batman will be shown under the stars at dusk. For the flyer, click here.

Throughout the evening, art activities take place, too, and everyone is entertained with the help of DJ Kenny. Kids draw or color characters from the featured film and win a prize! The artistic portion of Asphalt Cinema is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture

Hot dogs, cold beverages, and fresh popcorn will be available for purchase from West Denison Baseball League. The movie and the fun activities are free of charge thanks to our Asphalt Cinema sponsor, Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital
and Cleveland City Councilman Marty Keane. In August a City of Cleveland Safety Fair will also take place, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Christmas in July Brings Tropical Fun and a Visit from Santa to Kamms Plaza
 
On Friday, July 28, gather at the plaza parking lot starting at 5 p.m. for a new event that replaces Winter Wonderland, which ended after a 20-year run. Christmas in July features musical entertainment, children's crafts, raffles, and a visit from Santa! 
 
Celebrate National Ice Cream Month at Local Venues Offering Cool Choices

Newly opening on Monday, July 24, is Kamm's Corners Ice Cream Company, offering premium ice cream made on site in Kamms Plaza from secret recipes. Get sweet treats and more. Located in the former Cartridge World, between West Park Nutrition and Subway, the address is 3764 Rocky River Drive. Said owner Lisa Kay, "We offer premium ice cream at family affordable prices, homemade in the Corners, using our own secret recipes. Our freshly made ice creams have a delightfully enjoyable smooth and creamy flavor that will keep you coming back for more - guaranteed!" Also be sure to visit "The Zone," Cone Zone that is, at 4081 Rocky River Drive, now owned and operated by Weber's Premium Ice Cream. In addition to soft serve and traditional ice cream treats, there's a new special on a menu called "The Luau" for the month of July. It's a split, grilled hot dog on a toasted bun with grilled pineapple, onions, bacon, and teriyaki mayo. Lend a Helping Paw by Shopping for Bargains at the Rescue Inn's Annual Rummage Sale

Find treasures and help out pups in need at the annual rummage sale for The Rescue Inn taking place at 17401 Lorain Avenue, across from Kamms Plaza. A fantastic inventory of donations includes several bikes in great shape, household items, toys for kids, collectibles, and accessories such as purses, jewelry, scarves, and more.

Enter through the rear door off the parking lot as well as through the front door on Lorain Avenue. There is no charge to shop. A preview sale takes place on Thursday, July 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. The sale itself takes place on Friday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Rescue Inn, a non-profit, foster-based rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of dogs in need. Share a Meal and Join the Conversation about Our Community on Sunday, July 30  

On July 30, hundreds of people will gather at Public Square and all across Cuyahoga County to share a meal and a conversation about topics of importance to our community. This day of community conversation is focused on building connections, valuing all voices, and sharing ideas on how to move Greater Cleveland forward. Take a seat at the table by registering for a Common Ground conversation today. Closest to us is a barbecue from 4 to 6 pm at the West Park Family YMCA. Vegetables and fruits are now rolling into Kamm's Corners Farmers Market every Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the municipal parking lot behind Walgreen's. Enjoy a chef demo, live music, art, and more. Make it part of your Sunday routine.

Enjoy the Stinchcomb Memorial Free Concert Series, l ocated off Hogsback Lane in Rocky River Reservation, between Valley Parkway and Riverside Drive. The free concerts are on Wednesday July 19 and 26 from 6 to 8 pm. Concerts will be cancelled in the event of rain showers. This Wednesday, enjoy The Hollywood Slim Band. 
 
Pick up bargains at a "Tailgate Treasure Hunt" from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, at Our Lady of Angels Parish, 3644 Rocky River Drive. A $20 fee gets vendors two parking spaces with room for up to a 10-foot-square tent or canopy, plus coffee and donuts. For an application, email: [email protected].  
 
The 10th Annual Patrick Joyce Scholarship Fund 5K Run/1 Mile Walk happens on Saturday, July 29, starting at 8:30 a.m. at West Park Station, 17015 Lorain Avenue. The event benefits a Scholarship Fund and Long QT Syndrome advocacy and research. Click here to register.

The West Park Family YMCA invites all to the Back to School Scoot, a 5KRun and 2-Mile Walk on Saturday, August 19, starting at 9 a.m. Online registration is underway. All participants are invited to enjoy the post-race refreshments and family fun immediately following the race. Details here.
