Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fasting and complete abstinence from meat. Catholics between the ages of 18-59 are obligated to fast - i.e. take one full meal and two lesser meals on fast days. All Catholics ages 14 and older are to observe the law of abstinence from meat. The sick are not bound by these obligations.
