The 2013 NAON Call for
Proposals is Open!

The NAON Congress Unit invites you to submit a podium or poster presentation proposal for the 33rd Annual Congress in San Antonio. The NAON Congress provides a facilitated, self-directed learning environment through interactive classroom settings, poster displays, collegial networking, and technical exhibits.

This four-day conference will feature educational sessions focusing on the topics below:

• Case Management • Pain Management
• Co-Morbidities • Patient Education
• Complementary Therapies • Pediatrics
• Gerontology • Pharmacology
• Innovative Technologies/Care Delivery • Prevention/Safety
• Legal and Ethical Issues • Professional Development
• Office Practice • Spine/Neuro

• Oncology

• Sports Medicine
• OR/RNFA • Staff Education
• Osteoporosis • Total Joint
• Outcomes Management • Trauma

Along with what is listed on the actual 2013 NAON Congress Call for Podium and Poster Proposals, please consider submitting a proposal that includes the following topic information:

  • best practices in providing orthopaedic patient and family-centered nursing care
  • health care reform effects on orthopaedic nursing
  • new laws that affect orthopaedic nursing
  • new technology in orthopaedic nursing (practice, education, leadership, or research)
  • regulatory body issues and their effects on orthopaedic nursing (Joint Commission, SCIP, etc.)
  • research in nursing, especially orthopaedic nursing
  • quality body issues in orthopaedic nursing (HCAHPS, NQF, Magnet, etc.)

Education Levels:

The ongoing Congress goal is for at least 70% of all presentations to be educational level 2 and 3.

  1. General healthcare
  2. Intermediate healthcare
  3. Advanced healthcare

ONCB Categories:

The ongoing Congress goal is for at least 70% to be category A. .

A = Orthopaedic specific content
B= General content

Please remember that the deadline for education session proposals is Friday, June 29, 2012!   The deadline for poster presentation proposals is September 7, 2012 . All submitters will receive the status of their submission by e-mail in the Fall.

The NAON Congress Unit reviews the proposal content during the process of presentation selection. Proposals should offer succinct
summaries that invite attendees to participate in the subsequent podium or poster presentations.
