HHT Happenings: July 2018
" Liberty is the breath of life to nations. "
- George Bernard Shaw

July means Independence Day, family outings, outdoor explorations, and summertime fun. HHT invites you to celebrate July 4 th at one of our member sites listed below.*

Don't let the party stop once the fireworks end!
NYC Parks and the Historic House Trust has launched the
My Summer House NYC social media campaign to highlight the best activities planned at the houses to make your summer memorable. Ice cream making classes for the family, a Native American powwow, outdoor concerts, movie nights, and children’s educational camps are just some of the experiences you will find at the houses over the next few months.

Make sure you share your favorite moments with @hhtnyc and @nycparks by tagging and using #MySummerHouseNYC .

See you on the lawns, in the houses, and on the Gram!

2018 Founders Award Dinner

On June 13, 2018, nearly 350 attendees came out for the Historic House Trust’s 2018 Founders Award Dinner, a heartwarming celebration of interior designer Jamie Drake's distinguished career and deep commitment to HHT’s historic houses, in particular his timeless restoration and redecoration of Gracie Mansion.

This delightful evening brought together new and old friends at the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park to enjoy cocktails and dinner, gondola rides on the lake, touching speeches, and to top it off, a surprise fireworks display! HHT’s Founders Award was created in 2001 to honor outstanding contributions to historic preservation in New York City. Founders Award recipients display a passion for the historic fabric of the city, a dedication to preserving and promoting history through the built environment, and a devoted interest in sharing the fascinating and significant histories New York City holds.
