Let The Countdown Begin: Tackeria Invitational Kicks Off Fall Season Next Weekend At Grand Champions Polo Club
WELLINGTON, Fla., October 5,  2018----Grand Champions Polo Club opens the much-anticipated fall season next Friday with the Tackeria Invitational.

Sponsor and USPA President Tony Coppola hoists the winning trophy surrounded by 2017 Tackeria Invitational champion Audi.

In addition to 20-goal action, a medium goal schedule features six tournaments including the Tackeria Invitational. The tournament has a special place in club history as the inaugural tournament when the club first opened in 2007.

First round games are set for Friday with the final on Sunday according to Juan Bollini, Director of Operations and The Polo School.

"We are excited about the fall season," Bollini said. "We have some great players coming in for the 20-goal and medium goal games. We are ready for the season 110 percent.

"The fall season is important to us because it is a continuation of the sport and shows the world you can play polo twelve months a year. It's good, competitive polo and the best time of the year with great weather and great fields in October and November after five months of rest."

Bollini said the fall season is a good tuneup for the winter season for players and green horses. The winter season will feature the debut of the highly-anticipated 26-goal World Polo League at Grand Champions featuring 10-goalers Adolfo Cambiaso, Pablo MacDonough, Pelon Sterling and Juan Martin Nero. The WPL opens in late January with the $100,000 World Cup.

"The fall season gives American players who don't have a chance to go to Argentina an opportunity to improve their polo and keep them playing year-round," Bollini said. "It's a chance for players to see how good their green horses are and which ones make the cut.

Bollini also said The Polo School will be up and running next Saturday. Lessons are offered to all level and ages of players including beginners. "We are getting the barn and horses ready now," Bollini said.

Bollini, a former 8-goaler who will compete throughout the season, said players expected to play during the fall are Pite Merlos, Pablo Spinacci, Kris Kampsen, Brandon Phillips, brothers Mariano and Carlitos Gracida, Team USPA's Grant Ganzi, Pablo Dorignac, Juancito Bollini, Tony Calle and Santiago Avendano, one of t he sport's young up-and-coming players.
