Water: The Stuff of Life

Greetings!
Greetings in the Name of the Giver of Living Water!

Water juga I am writing to ask you to pray today for a breakthrough in the looming water crisis in India.  You may wonder, "Is the crisis too much water? Or not enough?" The answer is: Yes, and yes.

You see, India's water situation, like most of her major problems, is complicated. During monsoon season parts of the country are inundated with more rainfall than the landscape can handle, resulting in floods like the ones in north India about a month ago when more than 6,000 died. At the same time, other parts of India are dry and thirsty. And a pervasive problem everywhere throughout the year is an alarming depletion in groundwater levels.

The causes of the problems are numerous and complicated:  Rapid population growth, urbanization, mismanagement and inadequate planning in a growing economy.

Likewise, the solutions will be multifaceted and difficult.  In the meantime regular folks like our friends Richard Samuel, Ghuna Kumar and their families and ministries, are having to cope with shortfalls and high costs.

One thing we know for sure:  The One who invites us all, both here and in India, to drink of the Living Water that He gives, is also the One who can bring creative solutions and breakthrough to provide natural water for the people of India.

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."  (John 4:13-14)

Lord, we lift India's water shortage and management problems to You. Please provide ways for the men, women, girls and boys in this vast country to have enough of this resource that comes ultimately from You.  And may they know that You also want to give them Living Water that will forever satisfy the thirst in their souls.  In the Name of Jesus our Blessed Hope, we pray.  Amen.
