Let's build our community with service and celebration
Two great events driven by local residents
Some of the best ways to build community are through shared service projects and open celebrations.

That's why I hope you'll consider joining me at two great upcoming events, each organized and inspired by local residents looking to build community.

Residents who take the initiative to serve and bring us all together embody the quote from the late, great Muhammad Ali, who said, "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth."

This Saturday July 30, residents will gather at Nicholl Park for the "1st Annual Clean Up Rich City Day." After meeting at the park, residents will fan out across the adjacent neighborhoods to clean streets, sidewalks and green spaces.

WHEN: Saturday, July 30, 10:30 a.m.

WHERE: Nicholl Park, 3230 Macdonald Ave.

Saturday August 6, North Richmond Missionary Baptist Church will host its 6th Annual free community block party. We're appreciative of the historic church and Rev. Dana Keith Mitchell Sr. for hosting this wonderful North Richmond event.

WHEN: Saturday, August 6, noon to 4 p.m.
