Hopeful but Cautious!
Dear Friends,
We started Persian New year on a very nice note. We received more donations compared to previous years. Although some of our Nowruz mailers were sent late by our printer, we are still receiving donations and sponsorship requests. Thank you all for participating in the
Nowruz campaign which continues for another two weeks and there is still time to join the
Kiarostami scholarship drive.
We also had lots of programs around the country and our volunteers from east to west participated in many events, helping us to raise fund and awareness for children in need. We sincerely thank all of them and please see a short report our wonderful team below.
At the same time, I am a little concerned. The news that we received is the United States is planning to drastically reduce its assistance to international organizations by 40%. Although Child Foundation has not been recipients of any governmental fund but this will definitely have a domino effect on the work of NGO's such as ours since it will endanger millions of lives and consequently creating a heavier workload.
President Trump is working on a new executive order which establishes a committee to enacting "at least a 40 percent overall decrease" in U.S. funding to international groups.
We are monitoring the situation, hoping for the best but at the same time planning for the worst. Meanwhile, I like to invite you to
donate generously to our
general fund that helps emergency cases. Also please visit our
children's waiting list to sponsor a child to go to school and have a better life.
