Chamber Of Commerce

,

I am both humbled and excited to have been selected as the new President of the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce. I officially started my new role two weeks ago and have been busy meeting with staff and getting up to speed on the status of the Chamber's many programs and initiatives.

I want to thank the selection committee and the Board of Directors for their confidence in me. I would be remiss if I didn't also thank outgoing President David McKeehan for his assistance and advice during the transition period. We all owe David a debt of gratitude for his vision and dedication to the business community and the economic advancement of the North Central region. His leadership over the years has helped make the Chamber one of the best and most effective in New England, with an aggressive agenda focused on supporting members and the economic development of the region. I certainly have "big shoes to fill" as the saying goes. David will be a very tough act to follow, but I promise that I will do my best.

My immediate goal is to hear from you. I want to know your thoughts, ideas, concerns and suggestions about the Chamber and the region. I believe this is critically important for me as I build a solid grasp of the region's business community and of the Chamber's immediate and long-term challenges and opportunities. To this end, I plan to implement a series of initiatives to help me gather input from members and other stakeholders in the community. First, over the next few months, we plan to host several informal roundtable discussions at the Chamber office with small groups of members. These roundtables are an opportunity for me to get to meet members and gather input about the Chamber and the business community. Any member is welcome to attend one of these meetings. Secondly, the Chamber will be conducting a short electronic membership survey in the near future. I would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete this survey when you receive it in your inbox. All responses will be confidential. Only the summary findings will be shared with the Board. Third, I am implementing an open door policy to make myself available to hear directly from any members who wish to meet with me face to face.

To schedule a meeting or to participate in one of the roundtable discussions, then I would encourage you to contact Lauren Goulet at (978) 353-7600 ext. 222 or via email at goulet@massweb.org. Of course, you are also welcome to contact me directly anytime with any questions, concerns or would like to discuss any ideas for growing our region's economy and enriching the communities in North Central.

On behalf of the Board and staff, I want to thank you for your support and commitment. The North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce is a great Chamber with a great reputation and history - and a great future. I promise you that I will do my very best - working with you - to continue the momentum.

Sincerely,
