Trusting in Times of Change

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart...and he will make
straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6
I pray that you are well and that your days are brimming with love, peace and a deep sense of hopefulness. Seriously, these gifts of love, peace and hope are at the very core of what God has offered us. They are the marks of the life that is truly life. It is what God has promised us, and it is this life that is ours for the asking.

Of course, not many of us feel that way every moment of every day. In fact, I’ve had a little bit of contrary experiences and feelings these past few weeks with all the changes in our staff at St. David’s, along with the passing or the moving away of people we’ve known and loved in the congregation. Just when I think life is under some kind of control, a seismic shift takes place, and we find ourselves in a new and slightly unknown reality.

You may have similar experiences in your own life with job changes; moves; children growing up or moving out; or witnessing people you love struggle with difficult circumstances. It may be you experiencing some big change, and that sense of comfortable love, peace and hopefulness needs a little encouragement.

Apparently, that’s the way this life runs. Change happens around us all the time. People around us change. Circumstances change. We change.

Thankfully, one thing doesn’t change, and that’s God’s good plan for our lives. We may not know the road ahead. We may not see what’s coming our way. We may not know what changes will bring, but we can put our trust in God because God is love, peace and hopefulness incarnate, and they promise to set us on the right path, even though we may not know it yet.

So, if you want to know that deep love and peace and hopefulness every day, take a moment and put your trust in God. He’s got us covered in our lives and at St. David’s. The life that is really life, the life lived empowered by the Spirit, will always be an adventure; an adventure worth the change and the living.

See you in Church!

Grace and Peace.
