Lewis & Clark Law School has a new front door – or more accurately a new entrance plaza, welcoming all who come – just in time for spring! Tom Sunderland ‘14 and his family foundation stepped forward to support our project and the result is a beautiful new accessible walkway and gathering spot complete with nine benches. The entrance flows naturally into our amphitheater, McCarty Classrooms, Boley Library, Gantenbein and Wood Hall. Come visit!
Inside the halls, this Spring has been a busy one, with our annual Food law Conference and three law review symposiums taking place (Immigration, Animal Law and Environmental Law). Our Environmental Law program was recognized by US News making it a 20 year run as #1 or #2 in the nation. Lewis & Clark clinics and centers are making news with litigation, policy briefs and legal assistance, here in Oregon and indeed all over the world.

Alums Appointed to Bench
We congratulate all of our alums, including our honorary alum Adrienne Nelson'11, on their appointments to various courts this year. To date we have six alumni appointed to the bench.
Senator Betsy Johnson received the Distinguished Graduate Award this year, for her contributions to the community and the legal profession.
Beloved professor Doug Newell was named Honorary Graduate; Michael Hsu, ’11, and J. Ashlee Albies, ’05 received Recent Graduate awards Rising Star and Community Spirit, respectively. Read more...

New Certificate in Energy, Innovation and Sustainability
Responding to employers' need for lawyers with a foundation in both environmental and business law, the faculty announced a new certificate in Energy, Innovation and Sustainability for fall 2018.
In addition to core courses, practical skills from employment (pro bono or paid) in the energy law is a requirement. Read more...

Lewis & Clark Law students made us proud once again! Of special note...
The hard work paid off - congratulations to law professor Aliza Kaplan and law students Maya Rinta, ’19, and Sarah Rissberger, ’18, who prepared the clemency petition for Dondrae “Choo” Fair. Governor Kate Brown granted the petition in February.
Choo sought a pardon of a 1992 Robbery I conviction. Kaplan, Rinta, and Rissberger wrote his petition to ensure Choo could continue his work as the Lead Mentor for Volunteers of America’s Gang Impacted Team. Read more...
