Sophomore Pre-ACT Results Coming Soon

All 10th grade students are taking the Pre-ACT exam today. The exam provides a predictive score for the ACT test and suggestions on how to improve before taking the ACT test.  You will receive your student’s score report, answer booklet, and suggested planning information based on your student’s career interests.  A parent evening will take place in March; more details to come soon.

LHS Mentors Spark Love of Science
LHS Science Mentors recently partnered with students at EPiC Elementary to conduct science investigations.  The experience, facilitated by teachers Todd McDonald and Gary Pierson, allows high school students the opportunity to share a passion for science and participate in a mentor role.

No School - February 20
There will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, February 20th in observance of President's Day.
Juniors will Participate in Future Now: Finance

FutureNow: Finance is a financial literacy program, offered through Communities in Schools of Mid-America that helps students understand some of the realities involved in preparing for an employable future and adulthood. The event will be during the school day on March 28th.  It is a fun, tangible way to experience the reality of making financial decisions regarding life’s necessities. At FutureNow: Finance, students receive an adult scenario based on a survey they have completed prior to the event. The scenario includes: marital status, number of children, career field, and net monthly income (based on choice of career field and current GPA).

Students visit a variety of booths to “purchase” housing, transportation, communication services, child care, food, utilities, insurance, etc. based on the monthly salary from their adult scenario. They also have the opportunity to save money, give to charity and learn about unexpected expenses that affect daily life (e.g. accidents, unexpected visitors, flat tires). FutureNow: Finance booths are staffed by community volunteers who assist students in making wise, financial decisions.
