The Library will be closed on
Saturday, 
Dec. 24th - Monday, Dec. 26th
in observance of Christmas.  The library will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27th  at 10:00 am.

The Library will close at 5:00 pm on 
Saturday, Dec. 31st and remain closed until Jan. 2nd.  The Library will reopen on Jan. 3rd at 10:00 am.

Faux Gingerbread Contest
Faux Gingerbread Person Contest
Tuesday, Dec. 6th

 We invite you to use your imagination and create a gingerbread person for display in the library. All types of decorations are welcomed (fabric, foam, stickers etc.) There will be categories and prizes. Pick up your gingerbread person cutout at the library desk starting 11/17 and return it decorated by 12/6. Winners announced 12/20

Surveyors Charles Mason and Jeremiah Dixon were retained in 1763 settle an ongoing border dispute by determining the exact boundary between the colonies of Maryland and Pennsylvania.

The seasons are changing once again and Winter is officially on it's way! The changing weather is bringing many new and exciting things to the WCFL branches. Keep an eye out this month for our changing hours, exciting music, art exhibits and most importantly Santa!

Enjoy some hot cocoa and cookies at the library after Smithsburg's tree-lighting ceremony in Veterans Park. Tour our building, pick up a free craft-kit for the kids, and check out the used book sale. Also, at 7:30 p.m., children of all ages are welcome to enjoy "Story Time by the Fire," no registration required. We will be open extended hours until 9:00 P.M.

Join us for the opening of an exhibit of photography by students at Clear Spring High School. Light refreshments provided. 

Photos will remain on exhibit for your enjoyment through the end of December.

Activities for Teens
Hour of Code
Monday, Dec. 5 th @ 6:00 pm

The Hour of Code is a global movement to teach people how to code. The Hour of Code is a one hour self-guided interactive tutorial giving an introduction to coding. To register, contact the YA Dept at (301) 739-3250 x270.

Table Top Gaming
Thursday, Dec. 15th  
@ 3:30 - 8:30 pm
f On the third Thursday of each month, join us for table top gaming. Commonly, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Force of Will table top games are played by participants. The monthly event promotes a friendly, learning environment.

Activities for Children @ The Library 
Santa's Visit
Thursday, December 8th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Children can visit with Santa this evening. Bring your wish list. Enjoy cookies and a make and take craft. Parents bring your cameras and create a memory!

Tinkering with Technology: Stop Motion
Wednesday, Dec. 14th @ 6:30

Join us for our second "Tinkering with Technology" program. This month we will be learning all about Stop Motion and program attendees will be able to create and film their own stop motion video. Open to children ages 8 to 12. Registration is required
           and will begin December 1st.
