PLEASE SEE IMPORTANT NOTES
REGARDING CHANGES IN THE
360 NORTH SCHEDULE BELOW...

DEAR READERS:
I hope you were one of the lucky ones who caught MICHELE BROURMAN'S show on Sunday. It was so good and everyone loved her and were saying bring her back on their way out. And Michele had a surprise, last minute guest... Me! Yes I 'interrupted' the show to invite her to dinner later as a rouse to sing one of Michele's songs "A Good Dinner Partner". Thanks again for a great show Michele. Come back again anytime.

This Sunday is another DON'T MISS IT shows. DIANE PANCEL with TERRY COLE on piano in "Ladies Of Song", a tribute to such female artists and legends as; Doris Day, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, and more, with and eclectic mix of American Songbook, Broadway, and the Movies.

THREESIXTY NORTH UPDATES...

WE WILL NOT HAVE APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS THIS WEEK THE 29TH.

AND... They will be closed for the first 2 weeks of August, so that's the 5th & 12th. Then we return the following Wednesday when WAYNE ABRAVANEL will be playing for us on August 19th & 26th while Joel is on vacation.

SO THAT MEANS NO APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS FOR 4 WEEKS!!! YIKES!!

AND... AJ'S is closed for the entire month of August, so our last show before the break is AUGUST 1st - returning on SEPTEMBER 5th.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEDNESDAY:

Well since we didn't have a show, there is no news. See us at APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS WHEN WE RETURN ON AUGUST 19th.

The new Summer Hours: 6:30 to 9 PM when we return in August. Dinner reservations are always welcome.

WHAT HAPPENED AT AJ'S ON SATURDAY:
What a simply wonderful night we had last Saturday, with singers BILL CLIFFORD doing "Anything Goes", "Sara Lee" and "Pecks And Abs" parody of "Tits And Ass". ALAN JON came to sing "I Wish You Love", "If Ever I Would Leave You", and "I Left My Heart In San Francisco", then DOUG GRAHAM with "Broadway Baby", "When The Bell Rings For Me", and "Mi Manchi". Next we had RAFF CORRELL with "Let's Fall In Love", "Someone Like I Used To Be", and "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life". He was followed by SHIRLEY COLES there with a party of 10 for dinner and drinks, see the show, and to hear her singing "At Last", "Over The Rainbow", "If You Loved Me", and "New York, New York". Up next was DONNY TEETERS with "It's Magic", "Blue Moon", and "My Ship". Then we had MARGE HARRIS with "Before The Parade Passes By", "Over Weight People", and "Zippa-Dee Do-Dah" and LARRY HARRIS singing "That's Life" and "More". JACI DAVIS came to sing "Come Rain Or Come Shine", "My Funny Valentine" and "Where Is Love", the one from OLIVER. And our special guest for the evening, actually all our singers are special, MICHELE BROURMAN was staying at Holiday Inn Express across the street so she came and sang her original song "Read My Lips", and we insisted she sing her great standard "My Favorite Year". And about 9:30 we got a visit from NONI LAMBERTSON, which was a wonderful treat, and we got to hear her do "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered" and "People Will Say We're In Love". And that was our fabulous CABARET ON THE GREEN. Next week, I here tell, that several of our APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS singers may join us like JEAN SORF and LINDSAY OUELLETTE and hopefully others too. We hope to see you there too, especially because it will be the last Saturday night until September 5th... oh no, what will we do???

IMPORTANT NOTE: AJ's On The Green will be closed like last year, from AUGUST 3rd through SEPTEMBER 4th. So our last Cabaret On The Green will be on SATURDAY, AUGUST 1st and returning on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER, SEPTEMBER 5th. But you can come over to 360 NORTH and sing with us there.

And don't forget to YELP US and tell your friends too that we have the best singers in town and we do it LIVE!

AJ'S NOTE: There is a HUGE parking lot just past the front lot on your left. Remember to make reservations and see you next time.

Singing WHITNEY HOUSTON'S
"I Have Nothing"

Back by popular audience demand, singer and actress Diane Pancel returns once again in her new one-woman musical concert, "Ladies Of Song". This sequel to last season's hit "Ladies Of Hollywood" tribute to Doris Day, Marilyn Monroe, and Judy Garland, with addition of such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Julie Andrews, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, and more, with and eclectic mix of American Songbook, Broadway, and the Movies.

A native of Canada, Diane's voice is featured in over 200 TV and radio commercials, both speaking and singing jingles, in addition to both TV series and feature films. She has toured and performed extensively, with music stars like David Foster, Nelly Furtado, and Leanne Rimes, to name just a few. Joining Ms. Pancel on piano will be music director, Terry Cole. RECIPE OF THE WEEK

ARTICHOKE-SPINACH LASAGNA

INGREDIENTS:

1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (14 oz) vegetable broth
1 tablespoon chopped fresh or 1 teaspoon dried rosemary leaves
1 can (14 oz) artichoke hearts, drained, coarsely chopped
1 box (9 oz)  frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed to drain
1 jar (15 to 17 oz) roasted garlic Parmesan or Alfredo pasta sauce
9 uncooked lasagna noodles
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (12 oz)
1 package (4 oz) crumbled herb-and-garlic feta cheese (1 cup)

DIRECTIONS:
Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray.

Spray 12-inch skillet with cooking spray; heat over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; cook about 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until onion is crisp-tender. Stir in broth and rosemary. Heat to boiling. Stir in artichokes and spinach; reduce heat. Cover; simmer 5 minutes. Stir in pasta sauce.

Spread 1/4 of the artichoke mixture in bottom of baking dish; top with 3 noodles. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers twice. Spread with remaining artichoke mixture; sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with feta cheese.

Cover and bake 40 minutes. Uncover and bake about 15 minutes longer or until noodles are tender and lasagna is bubbly. Let stand 10 to 15 minutes before cutting.

SURE YOU CAN..

Somewhere deep inside you know you can do anything. But it's frightening and uncomfortable to think about, so you choose to pretend it's not true.

But what if you decided to stop arguing in favor of your limitations? What if you made the choice to allow your life to fulfill your greatest possibilities?

When you stop complaining that you can't, that's when you finally can. When you stop defending your limitations, you can begin to make progress.

Yes, life is filled with all sorts of challenges. But by choosing to work through those challenges is when you realize that you can do almost anything.

Sure, it's much easier said than done. Yet this is your life, and you deserve all the richness that comes with it when you allow yourself to live it fully. :)

CALIFORNIA DESERT CHORALE TO HOLD
AUDITIONS FOR ITS 22nd STELLAR SEASON

Palm Desert, CA - July 21, 2015...The California Desert Chorale (CDC) is beginning the build up to its 22nd Season and is searching for serious dedicated singers who are energized to be a part of this growing ensemble. The next audition will be held Monday, August 31 at 7:00p.m, St. John's Lutheran Church, 42695 Washington St. in Palm Desert. The upcoming fall auditions will be administered and conducted by Tim Bruneau, Artistic Director.

California Desert Chorale is comprised of both professional and amateur singers who bring a wide variety of choral and solo experience to the ensemble.  The level of commitment expected is significant and should be carefully considered before auditioning.  Singers auditioning should be prepared to honor the required membership commitments, which include: a weekly Monday night rehearsal from September 2015 - April 2016 with occasional Saturday morning rehearsals. The season is also comprised of two very busy concert week schedules and occasional community service performances.  Potential members should also understand that a portion of the group's concert repertoire is sung from memory, therefore, extra time and effort on your own, outside of the scheduled rehearsals, is required of all participants.

Detailed preparation information and audition requirements is available online at  CALIFORNIA DESERT CHORALE AUDITIONS and each audition will last approximately fifteen minutes.

California Desert Chorale is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit charitable organization. For more information on how to support and be involved with the CDC, visit the chorale's brand new WEBSITE.

Press inquiries should be directed to Jeff Hocker, Hocker Productions at 760-409-1530 or jeffhocker@yahoo.com.

Whether you are a seasoned singer from professional to amateur, or a bare beginner, just like with a regular physical boot camp where all levels are welcome, with my upcoming intensive, you will improve your vocal endurance, breath consistency and agility and find your true voice, or greatly expand the voice you already have.

Students have experienced profound transformations from these workshops.

One student's (John F) review here: "Prior to working with Doug I studied with celebrated master teachers [names removed]. As well as having developed his own techniques, Doug uses many of the same techniques developed by these master teachers, so working with him has been a natural progression for me.
Without a doubt I've learned more from Doug than I did with my previous instructors. He is meticulous in his instruction, and at the same time very clear about the how and the why of his technique. My singing has improved at a rapid pace, and it's undoubtedly due to Doug's knowledge, patience, and dedication to teaching. I would advise anyone, at any level, to work with Doug!"

In these 3 week, once a week, 2 ½ hour long sessions you will
- Work in-depth on powerful breathing techniques which will develop more consistency in your singing
- Strengthen the muscles that make your vocal cords work
- Enhance your resonation and tone
- Expand your range
- Learn proper vocal "positioning" when you sing
- Exponentially increase your breath control
And much more!
