Dear Readers:

WHAT HAPPENED AT AJ'S LAST SATURDAY:
Where was everyone? We had 12 incredible singers but only 25 or 30 non-singers including those in the bar area. But I understand other places are  experiencing a slow down in business, and it was Father's Day Weekend. But all of our singers sounded fabulous and the show went on with JOEL BAKER doing the first song "Chattanooga Choo Choo", then I sang "Are The Stars Out Tonight" which I'd never done before but I recently watched one of those old movies, I think it was 42ND STREET and heard it and got it stuck in my head and did it even though I know PAT MCCANN & FRED MILLER do it sometimes. Anyway our first guest singer was PAUL KAY with a copy of great choices, "I've Got You Under My Skin" and later "A Nightingale Sang In Barkley Square. Paul has his show WE'RE HAVING A HEATWAVE set for August 19th at ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER and it's sure to be a hit. It is wonderful to see BETH FORMELOZA back and singing "Close To You" and stay late to sing "For All We Know", "A Kind Of Hush All Over The World", and a show stopping  "At Last". And next was BARBARA FRANTZ sounding great with "My Heart Reminds Me" and later "Mean To Me", "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do", and "Ordinary People". And I think for the first time there was a singer between Beth and FERDIE FORMELOZA who sang "You're Still You", "Softly", and "All The Way". JOHN SPINKS went to Boston and came back for a short visit and to sing "The Man In The Moon Is A Lady", then "Full Moon And Empty Heart", "On The Sunny Side Of The Street", and a really stunning "When You Wish Upon A Star". And we had DOUG GRAHAM bringing down the house with "Wheels Of A Dream" from RAGTIME, I admit I got a little teary eyed, later he did "Almost Like Being In Love" with the verse which sounds like it is going into "How Are Things In Glacco Morra" being it would be a good medley, next he sang "She's A Woman" from KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN and later my new Doug favorite "People". Our wonderful ALAN JON was up next and his songs were "Never, Never, Never",  and "Don't You Know". PAT MCCANN wowed us with "I Remember You" and "Dancing On The Ceiling" the RODGERS AND HART one not the LIONEL RICHEY one. NOMI LAMBERTON was in absolutely fabulous voice for her songs "Somewhere Along The Way", "Too Young", and saved "The Parties Over" for later as the perfect last songs of the night. What can I say, PATTI GALLAGHER is not only a great singer, she is a real  performer doing her songs "Someone To Watch Over Me", and "Can't Take That Away From Me". And finally, there with WINETTE  share their anniversary with us, and who wouldn't want to, was RUSS ROOF with "Always" dedicated to her and together they sang the perfect song, "Sentimental Journey" and later Russ sang "Georgia On My Mind" done better than anyone I can remember, and did I mention it was their 62nd Anniversary and they were married on this day in 1956. Then we had a late arrival, TONY DESIENA who was off this night but he couldn't stay away so he sang "God Bless The Child"

And that was it for our CABARET ON THE GREEN OPEN MIC but we are back again this Saturday and would love to see YOU there!

HERE'S A GOOD TIP: Reservations are a good idea for dinning in the showroom. But if you get the answering machine do not leave a reservation on it. But call after 5 PM and press '1' at the end of the message and it will transfer to the bar where it will be answered by a real person who will take your reservations. DO NOT LEAVE RESERVATIONS ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE!

Also, our first round through the singer's sign up list is usually from 7:30 to around 9 PM, so even if you are somewhere else you can still drop in for the second round "Late Show" and have a drink with happy hour from 9 PM to closing.

And we get talented new singers all the time and are always welcome! Sign up time to sing starts at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:30 pm and goes until 10 pm.

PLEASE, won't you click  YELP US and tell your friends too that we have the best singers in town and we do it LIVE!  EVERY YELP HELPS

AJ'S NOTE: There is a HUGE parking lot just past the front lot on your left. Remember to make reservations and see you next time.

Hey everyone! You are missing out big time! BRAD SEIPLE did an amazing show on Sunday and we could have had more audience. Brad's patter was so funny and his song choices were the best. It was great to hear his voice and watch him share his
life and songs from movies that have made a big impression on him.

This week is another one of the Desert's singers, WAYNE ABRAVANEL. Wayne always
gives you more than a show with great music, he gives you a little bit of the behind the scene gossip and tidbits you won't want to miss!

CHECK OUT THE WONDERFUL LINE UP!

This Sunday is:
DO YOU REMEMBER THURSDAY NIGHTS IN THE
TEN20 LOUNGE AT THE BEAUTIFUL BEL AGE HOTEL
IN WEST HOLLYWOOD?

IT SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY BUT IT WAS REALLY AROUND 2003 - 2006. THE NIGHT STARTED WITH "THE GUEST STARS SHOWCASE" AND 4 PERFORMERS DOING A SHORT SET AROUND 15 MINUTES AND 3 TO 4 SONGS. RON SNYDER, THE HOUSE PIANIST, PLAYED FOR THEM AND AFTER A SHORT BREAK WE CONTINUED THE NIGHT WITH OPEN MIC. IT REALLY WAS A FABULOUS ROOM WITH GREAT FOOD, GORGEOUS BABY GRAND, AND THAT VIEW!

I HAD SO MANY DIGITAL PHOTOS FROM THOSE NIGHTS BUT LOST THEM WHEN MY COMPUTER DIED ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO. BUT I RECENTLY FOUND THE PAPTER PROGRAM I PUT TOGETHER FROM THE VERY LAST NIGHT THERE AFTER THE HOTEL WAS SOLD, IT'S NOW CALLED LONDON WEST. ANYWAY, I COMPILED A LIST OF ALL 383 GUEST STARS FROM THE 140 SHOWS ON A SPECIAL WEB PAGE IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO SEE ALL THE INCREDIBLE SINGERS WHO CAME TO BE PART OF IT. I ALSO HAVE LOTS OF OLD "MINI - DVD'S" TAKEN OF A LOT OF THE SHOWS. ONCE I LEARN HOW TO TRANSFER THEM TO THE WEB I WILL POST THEM FOR YOU TO SEE.
