DEAR READERS:
Just a reminder about these date changes at AJ's.

I'm getting a late start on this week's newsletter this Monday because I went out to DEL WEBB'S SUN CITY to see the always wonderful SHARON SILLS who packed the VANTANNA ROOM for 2 hours and all I can say is WOW! Then on my way home I stopped at AJ'S to check out BILL MARX who's now playing every Monday night in the Lounge with his great jazz piano solos as well as some drop in singers. Tonight it was CAROLYN MENDOZA, KEN STEELE, plus MARGE HARRIS who is the new Hostess with the mostess on Monday nights, and even I got up for a couple of songs, and we were also treated to the Jazz Harmonica stylings of: and I just went blank, but he is quite popular around the valley - you probably know who I mean. Anyway....

SUNDAYS IN SUMMER SHOWS:
OMG! I knew GRETCHEN REINHAGEN was good but never in my life imagined he was that good! I wish every cabaret performer could experience the genius of this lady - it was like watching a master class in cabaret performance. Hats off to her and to ANDREW SOTOMAYOR on piano, who by the way, is an excellent singer himself. I know because he and Gretchen came to CABARET ON THE GREEN on Saturday night and did a couple of songs for us. Great turn out for the Sunday show too. And 2 standing ovations and I know her "Both Sides Now" brought more than myself to tears. Great stories, great voice, and song selection, sounds easy but not many can command an audience like Gretchen did on Sunday. I hope she comes back soon.

I cannot believe we only have 1 more show left for the 2015 season but plans are already in the works for the 2016 season which begins in May and goes through October. This Sunday is a local fan favorite, ROSANNE HOPKINS, who's done a ton of musical theatre and is a crowd-pleaser at both the APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS and at AJ's. Joining her will be JOEL BAKER on piano and JEFF STOVER on bass - we hope to see you there to support live cabaret in the desert.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEK AT THREESIXTY NORTH:
Well there was a very large party of ladies there last week who were scheduled to be over by our show time, but naturally they went over by around 45 minutes so unfortunately a lot of people didn't stay around. But we had 3 singers plus Joel and I so we only went for 1 hour. There for the first time ever was a local singer that I have been hoping would show up some day, and this was the day. PAUL MCKAY came and sang with us doing "I'm Feeling Good", "That's Life", "It May Be The Night" (I think that was it?), and DONNY TEETER doing "The More I See You", "Why Did I Choose You", and "So In Love" and our 3rd singer was JASON HULL singing "Feels Like Home", "They Don't Know About Us", and "Somewhere In The Night". But I am sure we will have a good turn out this week and will start on time - you have my promise

Until then....

WHAT HAPPENED AT AJ'S ON THURSDAY:
Yes, that's right, Thursday. Filling in for FRANCECA AMARI who was wowing them in New York City's METROPOLITAN ROOM with her "You Make Me Laugh" GILDA RADNER tribute show. Since we didn't have a lot of advance notice to get the word out we had a smallish turnout with FRED MILLER singing "Embraceable You", "I Only Have Eyes For You", "Night And Day", & "The Very Thought Of You". And DONNY TEETER who did "So In Love", "Besome Mucho", "Here's To Life", "On The Street Where You Live", and "The Very Thought Of You". MARGE HARRIS was there too, singing "Crazy", Stormy Weather", "Around The World", "Bill Baily" (a duet with Larry), "A Good Many Is Hard To Find",and "Wouldn't It Be Loverly" plus led us all in "The Anniversary Waltz" for a couple named Barbara and John, and "Overweight People" and LARRY HARRIS sang "The Start Of Something Big", "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby", "Mascaraed", and "Till There Was You" . SHARON SILLS also came in and sang "Chain Of Fools", "Poor Pitiful Me", "Come Rain Or Come Shine", "Tell Me What Did You Think" (I think that was the title), and "Through The Eyes Of Love", . And TONY DISIENA who is the Saturday night Host gave us "My Romance" and "My Funny Valentine". Plus WAYNE ABRAVANEL and myself did a few songs each and that filled out a really nice night of live entertainment.

Already the new BAR & LOUNGE MENU which features PATRICK EVANS FAMOUS SAUSAGES, FLAT BREAD PIZZA, PIZZA BOMBS plus platter specials for you to share, are a big hit. And in a few weeks they will announce the new regular menu for this season.

ALSO, remember that this week we will be there on THURSDAY once again so please, everyone show up, see the new lounge seating and added bar  ables and try the new dishes. See you then - BUT NOT THIS SATURDAY OR THE NEXT. Don't forget.

AND NOW FOR SATURDAY NIGHT:
Busy night with lots of singers starting with COURT GRAVES fresh back from Bankok and points beyond, singing "Sway" and "Orange Colorded Sky". LARRY HARRIS with "I Hear Music", "On A Clear Day", and MARGE HARRIS with "Cabaret", "Let Me Sing A Happy Song", and together they did "I'll Be Seeing You". DONNY TEETER sang "Since I Fell For You", "For Once In My Life" and "Stranger In Paradise", DEANNE CONTE sang "Summertime", "Birth Of The Blues", "My Man" and she and husband BILL brought a new singer named DENNY PEZZIN and they did a duet of "Sunrise, Sunset" and by himself he sang and played guitar for "Light My Fire", and piano for "Piano Man", and with WAYNE ABRAVANEL he sang "At Last". He is really good and I hope that he and his beautiful wife VIRGINIA will come back again and again. In fact, ART & JOHN are going to have him entertain for the big HALLOWEEN BASH on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st - which if you are keeping score, we will NOT BE THERE! Next we had the incredible GRETCHEN REINHAGEN with ANDREW SOTOMAYOR on piano for "Listen To The Music", "It's A Sin To Tell A Lie", and Andrew singing with Wayne did "If I Didn't Care", then he got back on the piano to play for BOB REINHAGEN singing "Blue Gardenia" then switched to Wayne to sing "I'll Never Tell Another Lie". DOUG GRAHAM came to sing "At The RKO", "Till There Was You" and "Anthem" and he also brought a new singer who is studying voice with him named JIM TENNESSEN who is really good and sang "I Dreamed A Dream". We also had the fabulous PAT MCCANN who sang "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "Nature Boy", and we got a little taste of ROSANNE HOPKINS show this Sunday when she came in to sing a medley of "Pretty Women/Ladies Who Lunch". So it was a very busy night and we'll miss you all this Saturday and next Saturday, but plan to come and see us when we return on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7th.

And don't forget to YELP US and tell your friends too that we have the best singers in town and we do it LIVE!  EVERY YELP HELPS...

AJ'S NOTE: There is a HUGE parking lot just past the front lot on your left. Remember to make reservations and see you next time.

THE JOY OF CREATIVITY...

Sometimes creativity starts with a flash of inspiration, but that actually happens quiet rare. Most creations are made by people who simply think about the idea, get started and stick with it.

Certainly it is romantic to believe in a special Muse who bestows her creative brilliance upon you from time to time. But in between those magic moments, it's good to have a more practical plan.

In fact, all sorts of magnificent fruits of creativity come through plain old hard work. From rocket ships to poems, from musical compositions to magnificent paintings, creativity is an everyday affair.

You don't have to be a celebrated artist or film director or rocket scientist to be meaningfully creative. You just have to take the time, do the work, and put your love, care and attention into it.

Life is a continuing creative process. Gather inspiration from all around you and bring it's goodness to life. Whether your Muse is calling to you or not, create something wonderful out of every day! :)
