Sam sings
"You Could Drive
A Person Crazy"

DEAR READERS:
It's Monday night around 10 PM and I just got back from a lovely party. I normally wouldn't go out tonight since I am working on this newsletter most of the day & into the night but I got some done last night and today with only the blog to write. I just could not miss attending BILL & DEANNE CONTE'S 30th Anniversary Party at Indian Wells Resort Hotel that turned out to be a full sit down dinner and fabulous show with so many singers I am afraid to mention anyone for fear of leaving someone out but a few were: MICHAEL D'ANGELO who played MC - boy can he sing, STEVE DITULLIO, ANTHONY DIJERLANDO, LARRY CAPELOTO, DARCI DANIELS, CAROL MARTINEZ, LILI ROSE, ROSE KINGSLEY, LES MICHAELS, oh that's me, POUPEE, and RICHARD BONO  - the master on the keyboard. The later two of course are there every Wednesday night performing and welcoming guest singers. It was like a who's who of desert singers - they could have charged a cover:) Thanks again Deanne & Bill and here's to many more anniversaries.

Another highlight for my week was attending "Broadway D'Lights" at Pearl McManus Theater with my 'date' JEAN SORF and a great cast including KEISHA D, CHARLES HERRERA, JEROME ELLIOTT, & CHARLIE CREASY on the baby grand. The event was to raise money for a scholarship for a high school student going of to study theater arts. I hope they will consider bringing it to the 2015 Sundays In Summer - hint, hint.

WHAT HAPPENED AT
APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS LAST WEEK:
I was really worried last week because I took a walk down Palm Canyon Drive before the show and it was like a ghost town, most places were empty or had only a few people in them. So I was happy to see we wound up with a nice turn out of both audience and singers including DONNY TEETERS doing "I Cover The Waterfront", I Didn't Know What Time It Was", & "Stranger In Paradise", RAFE CORRELL with "Nancy With The Laughing Face", "When October Goes" & "All My Tomorrows", JEREMY JOHNSON from over at Oscar's came for dinner with friends and sang "Some One Like You" and did a beautiful job too. Then RUSS ROOF sang "One for My Baby" & "Chances Are", WINETTE ROOF joined Russ for two duets "Could I Have This Dance For The Rest Of My Life" & "Till We Meet Again", NONI LAMBERTSON sang "Till There Was You", "More Than You Know", & "My Funny Valentine", BETH FORMELOZA sang "A Time For Love", "Nature Boy", & "I Feel Good", FERDIE FORMELOZA sang "When I Fall In Love", "I Left My Heart In San Francisco", & "Who Can I Turn to", JASON HULL was in a Disney mood singing "It Gets Easy", "The Colors Of The World", & "Do You Want to Dance" ala Bette Midler, DARCI DANIELS came with some friends and sang "This Songs For You", and JACI DAVIS came and sang "Here's That Rainy Day", "It Don't Mean A Thing", & "Orange Colored Sky". And that was it for a great night of talent and music.

Just one more note: THIS FRIDAY the 31st out in front of THREESIXTY NORTH - DARCI DANIELS will be receiving her very own STAR ON THE WALK OF FAME at 3:30 PM, I hope you will all come by and cheer her on. See you then. And see you this week for APPLAUSE WEDNESDAYS - with JOEL BAKER on piano.

PS: WE NEED MORE FACE BOOK LIKES ON THE
THREESIXTY NORTH PAGE - PLEASE HELP US AND

WHAT HAPPENED AT AJ'S ON SATURDAY:
It was a really nice night at AJ's last week. A lot of new people in the audience there for the first time and wondering how they are just finding out about us? And why everyone doesn't know about us. Me too! Well they promised to be back and to spread the word about the singers who came to sing like DONNY TEETERS doing "Hold Me", "Secret Love", & "My Ship", newcomers SAMM with 2 m's singing "My Way" & "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" with TOM accompanying him on piano. RAFE CORRELL singing "And The Angles Sing" & "The Good Life", PATTI GALLAGHER with "By Strauss" & "Once Upon A Dream", LARRY HARRIS sang "All Of Me", "You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby", MARGE HARRIS with "Paper Moon" & a duet with Vicki "The Rose" and with Larry "Sentimental Journey", TOM KIESCHE from LA sang "Don't", "It All Fades Away", & "Heart Break Hotel", VICKI KNIGHT did a medley using "Ragtime Cowboy Joe/Deep In The Heart Of Texas/Oh Suzanna", "Happiness Is Just A Thing Called Joel (instead of Joe) "Thank You For The Music" in honor of Joel's last night as our regular weekly pianist. Then ANTHONY TRAN sang "Caro Mio Ben" (My Dearest Love) & "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You", CLAUDIA THOMPSON came to sing "When Sunny Gets Blue", "More Than You Know", & "My Funny Valentine", ALAN JON came and sang "Softly As I Leave You", "Kiss Her Now" & "The Little White Cloud That Cried" and BURC
LANDERS gave us an "Italian Medley" & "She's My Love".

Starting this Saturday, we are please to announce our new accompanist will be one of the desert's finest pianist, conductors, and musical directors: WAYNE ABRAVANEL. He is sure to be a welcome addition to the wonderful singers we have each week, plus he is has a roster of celebrated singers that he will no doubt have dropping in to sing for us. Until he gets comfortable with all of us, please try to bring your own sheet music, hopefully in your key, so we don't scare him off -LOL. But seriously, Wayne has played more piano bars and for more singers than you could ever imagine and I know he will have no trouble with all the songs he knows from the standards, Broadway, Great American Songbook, and can play in any style as well.

So please come and welcome Wayne this Saturday and make him feel at home.

AJ'S NOTE: There is a HUGE parking lot just past the front lot on your left. Remember to make reservations and see you next time.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

PEANUT BUTTER CUP CAKE

INGREDIENTS:

CAKE:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup water
3 eggs
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup chocolate-flavor syrup

TOPPING:
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons chocolate-flavor syrup
20 miniature chocolate-covered peanut butter cup candies, unwrapped, cut in half

DIRECTIONS:

1. Heat oven to 350F. Grease two 8x4-inch loaf pans with shortening; sprinkle with flour. In large bowl, beat cake mix, water, eggs, 1/2 cup peanut butter and the butter with electric mixer on low 30 speed seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl.

2. Remove 1/2 cup of the batter to medium bowl; stir in 1/2 cup chocolate syrup to make chocolate fudge batter.

3. Spread half of the peanut butter batter evenly in loaf pans (one-fourth of batter in each pan). Spoon chocolate fudge batter onto center of peanut butter batter in pans. Spoon and spread remaining peanut butter batter evenly over pans. Swirl with knife in circular motion.

4. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center of each loaf comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans. Carefully turn pans upside down onto cooling rack to remove cakes. Cool 1 hour.

5. In medium bowl, beat 3 tablespoons peanut butter and 2 tablespoons milk with whisk until smooth. Add powdered sugar; mix until smooth. If necessary, gradually add additional 1 tablespoon milk until glaze is desired consistency. Divide glaze between 2 small bowls. In 1 bowl, stir in 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup until well blended. Drizzle peanut butter and chocolate glazes over cakes; sprinkle peanut butter cups over tops of cakes.

MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT....

Live every moment of your life because in the end all you'll have is memories.

* * *

If you rush through life, you miss the best parts. Take your time, appreciate your time, and make meaningful use of it.

Instead of rushing to get everything done, take time to do things the best you can. Instead of racing to finish, enjoy the journey along the way.

Being effective is not the same as being busy. Just because something is urgent doesn't mean it's important. There are many things that can be done quickly, yet have little value.

Let go of the need to skim quickly along the surface. It's better to invest your time in one thing that really matters than to waste it on a dozen things that don't matter at all.

Your time is precious, so treat it with the respect it deserves. Rise above the anxious rush, panic and hurry, and make every day really mean something! :)

"My goodness, it is brilliant." - Koop Kooper, host, - "Cocktail Nation," Sydney, Australia

"Laura Ainsworth has not only met the incredible standard set by her debut recording but surpassed it..."  - Eric Harabadian, Jazz Inside

"Ainsworth segues in and out of moody ladies in love, like those in a Barbara Stanwyck film festival...Whether hilarious or heartfelt, Ainsworth packs a pistol & the goods & should make waves with this new release." - John Hoglund, Cabaret Scenes

"Reminiscent of those classic Verve, Capitol or Columbia albums of the 1950's, but equally, it is so vintage 2013, you just need to grab a copy and listen." - Richard Irvine, 87.7-FM

"Laura Ainsworth is an exceptional singer, full of grace and color in her interpretations. Her ability to express the elements of the most classic jazz is incomparable; she is able to subtly display sensuality, darkness, romanticism, naughtiness, and feeling. 'Necessary Evil' is a smart & brilliant contribution to the world jazz scene"  - Oscar Montagut, WorldMusicReport

"Delightful...Snazzy and jazzy...Charming and genuine... Recalls big band clubs in many a black-and-white film airing on TCM...Magically transporting to an era far gone..."
- Kevin Thomas, Dallas Voice

"As sweet-voiced as a meadowlark crossed with a hummingbird...The kind of gig Mae West would uncork champagne to and then sit back in brocade and rhinestones...
