What looked like the start of another normal night with a big audience and a total 17 singers, turned into a rather dramatic early finish, but more about that later. With JOEL BAKER starting us out with "Check To Check" and me with "Anything Goes", we had our first special guest singer, someone new to our show named JIM ANDERSON and his songs, "Paper Moon" and later he sang "Norwegian Wood", then on to BARBARA FRANTZ and "Strange" and later "Leaving On My Mind", after that is when show took a turn, again more about that later... PATTI GALLAGHER was next singing a beautiful Italian Opera Aria called "Gianni Schicchi", next we had LORRETTA SIANI sharing a medley from her show this Sunday at ARTHUR NEWMAN THEATER, using "They Say It's Wonderful" with "I Got The Sun In The Morning". JB joined us again with a new song, "What I Did For Love", then we had DOUG GRAHAM with "Wheels Of A Dream" from RAGTIME. We also had PAT MCCANN there with "Call Me Irresponsible". NONI LAMBERTSON did a great job with her song "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man Of Mine". And LINDSAY OUELLETTE came to sing "Rock-aby Your Baby", plus JEAN SORF was there with "Maybe This Time". Another new singer named RANDY SCOTT did a very nice job with "The Parties Over" and following him was another new singers, a talented woman named REBECCA HAWKINS with "I Say A Little Prayer For You". And there was BONNIE GILGALLON did "Route 66" and to let us know she will be the headline entertainer this Friday at AJ's along with JOEL BAKER on piano, with show time 6:30 to 9:30 PM. Next up was MARCIA HARP with "Over The Rainbow" with the audience joining in towards the end. And JASON HULL once again brought in a very interesting and heartfelt song called simply "Peace", plus we had TONY DE SIENA up to sing "You've Changed". Now, you notice after Barbara's second song there are no second songs for the rest of the singer in the second round? Well one of our audience sitting right up front and center, fainted from what we later found was a medical condition. Keeping up 'the show must go on' tradition, Barbara finish her song and then we had Joel fill in with some piano solos while the EMT's arrived and we announce the show would finish early. When I left around 9:30 she was taken to the hospital to be checked out and I heard she went home that night and is just fine. So that was it for another night of Cabaret On The Green Open Mic. We will be back this Saturday with many of the desert's best singers so come out and watch or if you are a great singer and want to be in the show, get there around 6:30 to sign up.
