A Message from Our Interim Rector

"Summer Season of the Spirit"

Ever get a sudden inspiration to do something good? Feel moved to reach out in compassion to help another? This is likely to be the Spirit at work in your spirit.

Almost half the Church Year--the Pentecost Season--focuses on the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Spirit is the dimension of God "nearer than breathing," which animates all life and seeks to work with us to bring forth all our best, Christ-like qualities. From Advent to Pentecost  Sunday we focus on the life of Christ, so we can see what God-like character in action looks like. Then we have a season where we hear,  Sunday by  Sunday, the substance of Jesus' teaching to help us apply what Jesus taught in our daily lives.

Summer Sundays are important! Don't miss hearing, week by week, what Jesus actually told us to do, and how he saw human life in God.

Bishop Beckwith's Visitation at all Services
June 18

Our Diocesan Bishop will be with us to preach, celebrate Communion, lead us in a renewal of our baptismal vows, and lead a Bishop's Forum during a special Coffee Hour in the Undercroft after the  10 am service.

We are all asked ponder this question:
"What part do you feel you play in God's mission in the world?
What are some of the ways you serve God's purposes?"

The Vestry will then meet with the Bishop for lunch to discuss how we see St. Peter's serving God's purposes in our communities.

Father's Day Grief

It's easy to forget that for many, this upcoming Sunday, Father's Day, can be full of emotional landmines. Our Pastoral Assistant and Bereavement Specialist,  Vince Corso, offers his insights to spouses with young children who are coping with the death of a Dad, in the lead-up to Father's Day. The article is published on-line at SheKnows.com or you may download a copy here.

Street Fair Thanks
streetfair12

To all who hammered, hauled, stood for hours, picked up balls, carried, fed people, sold tickets of all types, donated food, books and those amazing Tricky Tray baskets ... to those who came to the Fair, brought friends and relatives ... and to all those in between ...

Thank You!!

It was a hugely successful Street Fair and we couldn't have done it with out everyone's help. It was truly St. Peter's at its best!

Peace & Love,
Your Street Fair Committee

If you were one of those wonderful people who put out a Street Fair lawn sign please return it to the church office porch so we can re-use it for next year :)  Thanks!
Sunday School
Family Church
Our Junior SPY did a spectacular job with Family Church! Our readers were Zoe Boggier, Donte Chance, and Anna Torok, who each read so clearly and beautifully. Abby Boggier and Katie Butler were a big help ushering, and our elements were carried so carefully by cousins Julia DiGiovanni and Katelyn Wescott. Family Church will take a break for the summer :(

Although  Sunday School & Family Church will be on break for the summer, children are ALWAYS welcome in "big" church so I hope to see you all during the summer! Please consider helping with these important ministries next year.  If you have any questions reach out, I'd love to talk to you!

With Faith & Love,
Dana Leach

Nursery Care
Nursery Care will continue to be available for children 3 and younger through the end of June, then will take a break for July and August.  Michelle & Ann will be back again after Labor Day to care for our littlest parishioners. The little ones are always welcome in "big" church, however :)

With Faith & Love,
Dana Leach
Ornament of Lost Coin Window

A replica of the window dedicated to Mother Stephanie last week will be available on a Christmas ornament, and proceeds will be divided between the parish and a purse for Mother Stephanie.

If you are interested in ordering one, please contact Pam Au.
Coffee Hour: Mutual Give and Take in Action
  coffee_table.jpg

Mutuality is at the heart of Christian practice, and the heart-beat of Saint Peter's is mutual support: some prepare the altar for the rest of us, others read so we may hear. Some take flowers to the sick and shut-in, others greet us warmly as we enter for worship. Church School teachers educate children from any family of the parish and OpShop Volunteers touch the lives of people in the larger community.

Likewise, our after-service coffee hours are a kind of "rotating pot-luck" offering of members to members: each week a different family hosts the coffee hour for all who come. The rules are simple (and posted in the Upper Room): make the coffee (easy), bring some goodies (doesn't have to be fancy!), and tidy up the space when finished. You are invited to "join the mutuality" by signing up for hosting one week this season. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board in the Upper Room.

Help us help make Saint Peter's
a welcoming space for all!

Please Help Our Local Food Pantry

The need is great, your donation makes a difference!!

The next time you are shopping, please simply buy a double for one or two of your regular items. That's it! Don't worry about whether it's "this month's" item, it doesn't even need to be edible (a little bit of mascara could be a real treat for someone!). Please just bring an item or two each week when you can, and think of what a difference it will make!

Thank you for your generosity!
