A Message from Our Interim Rector

"The Encourager is Given"

The Spirit didn't suddenly appear at Pentecost, because the Spirit, God's very breath of life, was present from the moment of creation on. Every moment of our lives is supported by God's Spirit. But Jesus promised that after his earthly appearances ended, that same Spirit that was in him would be "with us and in us."

Just as Christ-potential is in everyone as a seed, so the Spirit flows in any who turn to God in trust to encourage that "image of God" to grow into full strength. Jesus calls this inner power "the Advocate" or "Encourager"--that deep urge to all that is good we can call on for help and strength as we face our daily choices.

Sunday School
Sunday School
This is it, my friends! The last  Sunday School class of the program year AND Pentecost! Wear  RED and bring your children to church for Sunday School. Next year will be here before you know it, however, so if you are interested in hearing more about how you can become involved in this WONDERFUL ministry let me know. The commitment does not have to be huge or scary :)

With Faith & Love,
Dana Leach,  scottdanaL@aol.com973-364-7544

Family Church
Next  Sunday, June 11th, will be our final Family Church of the program year and we are going to give our Jr. SPY an opportunity to shine :)  If your child is in 6th-8th grade and would be willing to help let me know. It is going to be a great service and I encourage all to bring their children to see the "big kids" in action!

With Faith & Love,
Dana Leach
Street Fair is Coming!!

Street Fair - June 9th & 10th!

Just a bit over a week to go!!

PLEASE come this Saturday, June 3rd, starting at 9am, to help with set-up. This is a HUGE job and takes as many people as we have available.

If you have any time during the Fair when you can make yourself available to help we could still really use some bodies.  We have a greater need for  Friday night, but also, as of right now we have no one for China Smash  on Saturday night :(

CARS!  WE NEED CARS!  We still need a couple more of the children's battery powered cars for our Grand Prix. If you have one you can loan or have outgrown and would like to get out of your garage please let Dana Leach know. The Grand Prix is one of our most popular attractions.

EVERYONE, big & small, young & old....start your praying NOW for good weather :)  Also, TELL your friends, neighbors and relatives about the fun they can have at the Fair! Or plan to take a friend out for dinner by treating them to our yummy chicken dinner & strawberry shortcake! There will also be MUSIC, all those fun games, and other delicious snacks. Oh, and wait until you see the FABULOUS prizes at our Tricky Tray!!!

Bishop Beckwith's Visit, June 18

Bishop Beckwith's Visitation, June 18:  Our Diocesan Bishop will be present for all Sunday morning services on this day to preach and celebrate the Eucharist. All members are encouraged to attend a special coffee hour and Bishop's Forum after the 10 a.m. service. Be thinking of what St. Peter's means to you, and the good it serves in the community in preparation for that discussion with Bishop Mark.
Father Anthony's Institution on June 17
Vacation Bible School

We will hold HERO CENTRAL VBS on August 7-11!

Thanks to those who came to our craft and decorating night last week. Our next volunteer opportunity is coming up in June!

Join us Monday, June 19 at 7:30 in the Upper Room for a Craft & Decorating Night!

Registration has opened and is filling up quickly! If you would like to have your child join us, please fill out the registration form and return it to the church office soon.
Coffee Hour: Mutual Give and Take in Action
  coffee_table.jpg

Mutuality is at the heart of Christian practice, and the heart-beat of Saint Peter's is mutual support: some prepare the altar for the rest of us, others read so we may hear. Some take flowers to the sick and shut-in, others greet us warmly as we enter for worship. Church School teachers educate children from any family of the parish and OpShop Volunteers touch the lives of people in the larger community.

Likewise, our after-service coffee hours are a kind of "rotating pot-luck" offering of members to members: each week a different family hosts the coffee hour for all who come. The rules are simple (and posted in the Upper Room): make the coffee (easy), bring some goodies (doesn't have to be fancy!), and tidy up the space when finished. You are invited to "join the mutuality" by signing up for hosting one week this season. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board in the Upper Room.

Help us help make Saint Peter's
a welcoming space for all!

Please Help Our Local Food Pantry

The need is great, your donation makes a difference!!

The next time you are shopping, please simply buy a double for one or two of your regular items. That's it! Don't worry about whether it's "this month's" item, it doesn't even need to be edible (a little bit of mascara could be a real treat for someone!). Please just bring an item or two each week when you can, and think of what a difference it will make!

Thank you for your generosity!
