Limoneira Receives Trailblazer Award From Grocery Headquarters

 

Limoneira has been recognized by Grocery Headquarters with their Grocery Headquarters Annual Produce Trailblazer Award. The award recognizes Limoneira for its commitment to growing the produce category. Nominees from all produce categories were considered and judged on a number of elements including but not limited to Innovation, Branding, Creativity, Packaging, Sustainability and Social Responsibility.

 

Grocery Headquarters offers an inside look at the trends and events impacting today's ever-changing marketplace. They present 40,000 grocery executives with the research necessary for strategic planning, based on an encompassing view of issues, events and developments in the industry.

On March 24th Limoneira introduced "Vision and Value", The Company's latest corporate video which was produced by Grammy Award Winner Todd Hannigan. Imagery reflected the beauty of Limoneira Ranch and provided important messaging on growth, focus, markets and sustainability. CEO Harold Edwards stated that 2014 was the best year financially and operationally for the Company and discussed recent acquisitions and initiatives that have been put in place that will continue to increase shareholder value.

April Is Lemon Month At Souplantation - Limoneira Showcased

 

This month, it's all things lemon at Souplantation and this innovative and healthy restaurant chain is showcasing Limoneira quality lemons at their locations with table tent messaging focusing on Limoneira's heritage and extensive experience in farming and harvesting.

 

Souplantation and the folks at Garden Fresh, the chains parent company are great partners and we're returning the favor with a special April promotion for their customers called HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR LEMON LOVE. Customers can purchase any Souplantion Salad and take a picture of their receipt. They can then log onto Limoneira's Facebook page tell us why they like Souplantation and upload their receipt.

Spring Has Sprung - Limoneira Introduces Lemon Misfits?

Limoneira will be attending this year's Canadian Produce Marketing Association Show in Montreal. The Annual Convention & Trade Show is CPMA's keystone event and Canada's largest event dedicated to the fruit and vegetable industry. The event provides a unique forum for industry leaders to enhance their business opportunities in Canada through education and networking opportunities. CPMA's Annual Convention and Trade Show attracts over 3000 participants from all segments of the produce supply chain and showcases produce from around the world. Attendees include all major stakeholders in the produce supply chain and Limoneira's largest customers attend CPMA.

Limoneira is a leader in sustainability and virtually every aspect of Company operations are influenced by stewardship and sustainable practices as evidenced by the matrix below and by specific examples that follow the matrix. This messaging is being reinforced in Progressive Grocer's issue dedicated to the Canadian Produce Marketing Association show in Montreal.

 

Progressive Grocer is delivered to 38,000 executives and is an industry leader in terms of readership, and their audience continues to be among the strongest in the industry across print, digital and events.

 

In addition to their strong readership they deliver comprehensive editorial coverage on the produce category. In March Limoneira was featured on GUOJIUOSHOA.COM a popular website for produce in China. China is an immense market and the government has been highlighting the importance of health and nutrition. China's youth obesity in the country is a major health concern according to the WHO (World Health Organization) with overall rates of obesity below 5% in the country, but greater than 20% in some cities. Despite this concentration of obesity, the sheer size of China's population means that over one fifth of all one billion obese people in the world come from China. Limoneira lemons are an important component in a healthy diet and distribution is increasing in this important export market.

 

Mabel Zhuang is the creative force behind Guojiguoshu and founded her consultancy after serving for 5 years with the United States Foreign Agricultural Service in Shanghai. She provides services to PMA in China, Asia Fruit Logistica and a number of agricultural companies. Her firm helped organize the recent PMA Fresh Connections China Conference in Shanghai.

 

Guojibuoshu currently has 6000-7000 unique visitors to their website and 20,000 page views on a monthly basis. The company's messaging is also distributed through wechat, China's most popular Chinese social media platform.
Batter Up - Limoneira Featured In Meijers Advertising

 

The 2015 Major League Baseball season began on Sunday, April 5, 2015 with the St. Louis Cardinals visiting the Chicago Cubs at the newly refurbished Wrigley Field, and will end on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

 

Limoneira provides lemons to Meijer's stores in the Midwest and their in-house graphic design team put together a very creative treatment called "Relief Pitcher" highlighting all the great things they have "to keep your bases covered".

Limoneira New Work Force Housing At Aguacate Loop

 

At the Aguacate Loop project off Foothill road between Santa Paula and Fillmore, 57 of Limoneira's 71 new agriculture workforce housing units have recently been unveiled. These are spacious two and three bedroom homes with two bathrooms and judging from Rosie Castillo, Limoneira's property manager, demand is strong. In an earlier Company press release, Harold Edwards stated that "We are excited to expand our rental business with the additional agriculture workforce housing units. Our rental business is a steady and predictable revenue stream that provides us with a dependable source of annual cash flow. In addition, it provides Limoneira the unique ability to offer housing to agriculture workers and our employees, which in turn helps provide us with a consistent source of labor that is core to the success of our agribusiness." The total cost of the new 71 work force housing unit development was $8.5 million.

Whole Foods Markets is highlighting local growers in their marketing efforts. While lemons aren't grown everywhere in the U.S. Californian's are lucky to have them literally right around the bend. Gus Gunderson, Limoneira's Director of Southern Farming Operations profile graces Point of Purchase Displays in the Whole Foods at the Collection in River Park (Oxnard, California). We think Gus is the perfect fit for this great grocery retail partner.
