november 2014
Hello! It's November!

A lot has been happening! Halloween, with its pumpkins and costumes, of course. And the WeNeedDiverseBooks campaign is still ongoing (just needs a bit more to get to its goal!). But most importantly,
Ling and Ting:Twice as Silly is NOW out!!!

Yes, the third Ling and Ting book is now officially published!!!

I admit that the book release is a little bittersweet. Unfortunately, due to my publisher's battles with Amazon, it's unavailable on that website. And while you can get the book from other sites like Barnes & Nobles, I'm trying to make lemonade with my lemons by encouraging everyone to purchase the book from my local bookstore! If you order from them, not only will the book be autographed but I will include a free gift! Last day to order is TODAY!

And you really don't want to miss this one! I think this is the best Ling and Ting book I've done so far and I'm super proud of it. I really want to hear what YOU think of it so...
Share your Silly Story!
and get an autographed print from me!

Tell me your Silly Stories!

Whether it is something you wrote using the new Ling & Ting Story Silly Starters (more on that below)  or something silly that happened to you, I would love to have you record your story on video.  Why?  Because I want to see you tell it and I would like to share your story with other readers!

If you share your story, you will receive a free Ling & Ting print in the mail!  One random storyteller who submits by 1/1/15, will also get a Pocket Pacy!!

How does it work?

1) The offer is open to my readers from ages 5-12 and the educators and librarians that are my other valiant readers.  One entry per reader, please.  The offer will remain until supplies last.

2) You must, of course, have your parent, guardian, or teacher's permission to make and share a video.  If you have their permission, always protect your online safety by not saying your name or your location.

3) You might start your recorded story by saying, "I have a story twice as silly as Grace Lin's book Ling & Ting: Twice as Silly..."

get this print by sharing your story!

4) Load the video onto YouTube, Vimeo or onto my Facebook Page.  Loading the video in either location implies that you are willing to have others see it and to have me share it with other readers.  Message me at gracelin.manager@gmail.com if you want to share your video with me privately.

5) Tell our friends at Curious City DPW that you have uploaded a video and give them your mailing address to get a Ling & Ting print.

NOTE: Curious City DPW will only use your address to send you a print.  They will not sell or share your address.  Your address will be deleted after shipping.

EDUCATORS, LIBRARIANS, OR GROUPS.  If you have multiple videos and would like multiple prints mailed to you directly, please make arrangements with Curious City DPW by e-mailing kirsten@curiouscity.net.

Story Starters
just to help you get started!

Would you like some help with your story? Well, here are some

Ling and Ting are twins, but they are not exactly the same. Ling and Ting like to make up silly stories. You can make up silly stories, too. Even if you have a twin, no one will make up a story exactly like yours!

These Ling and Ting Story Starters help you take people, places and things that happen your real life and put them in your own story! And in your story, anything can happen!

Meet My Friends!
Suzanne Selfors fills in the blanks!
Sasquatch (Escape), me and Rain Dragon (Rescue)!

All this Ling and Ting silliness has made me think that this is the perfect time to introduce the magical books of Suzanne Selfors!  Why?

Because not only she is the author many awesome books (including my favorite, Fortune's Magic Farm), two of her recent books iare titled...wait for it... The Sasquatch Escape and The Rain Dragon Rescue! Yes, just like my own Sasquatch and Rain Dragon!! It was completely coincidental...or so she says...

me & Suzanne!

So, I asked Suzanne to Fill in the Blanks of six silly sentences:

1. The strangest thing I've ever eaten is...a termite that had flown into my

lemonade. I swallowed him whole. Accidentally.

2.  My favorite word is...

yes.

3.   My least favorite word...no.

4.   I wish I could...talk to animals.

5.   To my left is...a wicker basket filled with old maps.

6.   I think the secret to happiness is...lots of chocolate.

Letter of the Month!

I'm always so honored to receive letters from readers!

This month's letter is exceptionally heartwarming, and I'm not even including the amazing drawing that was on the back!

Letters like these are why authors do what they do! So as much as readers thank me, I truly thank you for making my dream of sharing my work come true!

If you'd like to contact me directly, the fastest way is to contact me is through my facebook page . However, I do not not e-mail kids (sorry!) and so, in general, the best way to contact me is via snail mail:

Grace Lin
PO Box 60334
Florence, MA 01062

Make sure your return address is on youactual letter and please be patient for a response (I'm on a 6 week return cycle right now).

That's all for now! Don't forget to order your book today if you'd like the free gift and hope to see your stories!

See you in December!

Best Wishes,
Grace Lin
