Lion Night
is an upcoming event for UNA Students to become aware of
Downtown Florence
businesses in a fun and interactive way! Students have the chance to enter a drawing multiple times for the grand $1,000 Lion Night Scholarship presented by the Student Government Association of UNA. In addition, SGA is giving a way a second scholarship in the amount of $500. Then to top off the night, Main Street is giving away $100 of Downtown Dollars to 15 lucky University of North Alabama students to spend in downtown.
How it works:
You visit all 30 businesses to write your name on an entry slip and drop into the provided box. You have from 4:00pm until 6:30pm to enter your name at every location possible. At 7:15pm Main
Street and SGA announces the winners! Sounds easy, right?
What is up for grabs: 15 $100 Downtown Dollars $1,000 Lion Night Scholarship $500 Lion Night Scholarship
Transportation: UNA Buses will be provided during the night for students to visit all participating businesses.

This is the festival for the first state-recognized Craft Beer Championship in Alabama! We will kick off the festival with a Beer Ball at the Shoals Marriott on Friday August 12th. On the following afternoon, there will be a "Penny Beer" Garden in downtown Florence followed by the official after party at the Singin' River Brewery!

Kennedy Douglass: A Secret History of American River People
The Secret History of American River People is a touring shanty boat that floats down American waterways collecting oral histories. Florence, AL is fortunate to have the Secret History crew in our town for a few days collecting our river stories. KD Art Center will host an exhibit of some their work as well as a collection of River Folk Art. The opening reception will be Friday, August 5th at 5:30-7:30 at Kennedy-Douglass. We'll have music on the porch by Shoals Dulcimer and Folk Music Association. Dinner is available from Steak N Stuff.

Join Shoals Community Theatre for their production of In The Heat of the Night presented by The Zodiac Players.
It's 1962 in the small town of Argo, Alabama. A dead white man is discovered and the local police arrest a black stranger named Virgil Tibbs. The police discover that their prime suspect, in fact, is a homicide detective from California. Tibbs becomes the community's single hope in solving a brutal murder that is turning up no witnesses, no motives, and no clues.
