True North
1211 North Wood Avenue

Chris James (of Heavy Color) and Nadene Mairesse (of Idyllwilde ) have created a collaborative work, retail, art and performance space -True North. Join us for our first exhibit featuring recent paintings by Marisa Keris.

Marisa Keris' contemporary impressionist series Origins showcases her large, tropical inspired oil paintings. Created from memory and travel photos of richly foliaged landscapes, studies of plants, palms and fruits put the viewer in a prelapsarian point of view that is depicted in dreamily painted jungle scenes. The scenes are imagined landscapes, collaged from visits to Florida and the South, ancient Roman ruins, and her studies of house plants, that show the natural world through a hazy lens of decaying, lush greenery.

Marisa Keris lives and creates her art in Tuscumbia, AL. Originally from New Jersey, she studied painting at the Rhode Island School of Design as well as in France and Italy. This is her first solo exhibition.
