Ready, Set.... RUN!
Our annual Jog-a-thon starts bright and early this Friday morning!  So, get those pledges in writing, and bring your "A" game because it's time to run! be sure to bring your completed pledge envelopes to school on Friday morning so we can record your laps. Come on out ready to roar and set a personal best for most laps run to date. Remember there will be prizes awarded for laps, pledges and costumes. Parents and Zion family are invited to join in the fun and maybe even put on some running shoes and jog a few laps in support of our students. We can't wait to see you on the field on Friday morning, October 21st! Please refer to  your teacher's home note at the end of this newsletter for running times for your grade.

Wednesday, October 19th is our last day to collect filled shoe boxes!
Our Current Chapel Project!

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Our chapel project for September and October is Operation Christmas Child.  If you are able to fill a shoebox for a child in need, there are shoe boxes available in the main hallway.  What can go in a shoe box?  A “wow” item, a toy, school supplies, non-liquid hygiene items, accessories, and a personal note.  >>Click Here  for a list of suggested items and specifications on the Operation Christmas Child website. Click on the “See More Gift Suggestions” tab for more ideas.  Pick up a shoe box and happy shopping!
> Click here for Printable Instructions on how to pack a shoe box and ideas for what to include.
Remember hot lunch order forms are due every Thursday!!!
The Principal's Office:
 A Note From Mr. Schultz

It is definitely getting cooler in the mornings and we are starting to have some days that are gray and wet.  Make sure your child(ren) have adequate jackets or sweatshirts to wear.  It would also be helpful if you try to monitor whether your child(ren) comes home with jackets/sweatshirts that they wear for the morning.  Our lost and found is growing due to warmer afternoons and items being left outside.

  • When you arrive at school, please let the office know when you see cars with no parking permit in their window.

- Jog-a-thon – Don’t forget to help your child get pledges for their running next week.  The envelopes should be turned in this Friday.  Our goal is to have enough funds to allow PTL to support our teachers in their classrooms, support the LEST experience for 5-8 grade, and support the school play.  Please pray for good weather so that the Jog-a-thon is a great experience for everyone!

- Crazy Pumpkins – The 5-8 grade is having a pumpkin decorating challenge this Monday.  You’ll see their work on display in the hallway.  Students will have the opportunity to vote on the most creative work!

- It’s great to see shoe boxes being filled and brought in for our chapel project.  Please consider participating.  Our regular offering will also go to support this project.  Remember, the due date for filled boxes is October 19th for our school.

 - Have you set up your access to Edline yet?  This is for parents with students in 3rd through 8th grade.  You should have received information from me a week ago which will allow you to access your student(s) grades at any time.  Teachers are doing their best to update grades at least weekly.

- Thank you to everyone who is using the new pathway along the north side of the upper parking lot!  Again, this is for safety reasons.  Please don’t assume that you can be seen easily while walking through the parking lot.  One accident is one too many!

  • TADS questions?  Calling TADS directly should answer most questions that come up.  Wendy or I can also be of assistance from the school office

  • Don’t forget to check out your calendars for upcoming events.  Our calendar can also be found on our website under events.

Thank you for being part of the Zion Lutheran School family.  We understand the sacrifice that is made by families in order to have children attend and appreciate all of the support that we receive.  Consider it an investment and not just a cost.  If you have questions or concerns, please speak to your child’s teacher and if I can be helpful in any way, let me know.  Continue to keep our school in your prayers as we look forward to the 2016-2017 school year.

In Him - Jonathan Schultz

Please try to stop in before school on Friday for a nice treat to end your week or maybe share with your co-workers and friends!
