Florida crime-writing pioneer
honored for work of a lifetime
Edna Buchanan, who pounded the mean streets of Miami as a Pulitzer Prize-winning police reporter and later as a novelist, has received the 2017 Florida Humanities Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing. Judges praised her as the pioneer who wrote the book on modern Florida crime writing (including memoir "The Corpse Had a Familiar Face"). Read on
