Dig Into Reading!
Live Oak Public Libraries annual Summer Reading Program is open to children and teens up to age 18.
Participants may read anything - comics, graphic novels, newspapers, e-books and, of course, library books. They can also participate by listening to stories read aloud or by listening to audiobooks.
To get started, readers can visit any Live Oak Public Libraries branch in Chatham, Effingham or Liberty Counties and pick up a Dig Into Reading log or download one from the library's website: www.liveoakpl.org.
The program, which runs through Aug. 17, consists of four reading levels, 10 hours at each level, for a total of 40 hours. After completing each level, the reader just brings his or her reading log to any library branch to receive rewards, including coupons to nearly 20 participating sponsors from throughout the Savannah area.
The program also includes performances by storytellers, actors, musicians, artists and magicians. This year's lineup of special guests includes Hampstead Stage Company's "The Secret Garden", the Forsyth Farmers' Market, musician Charlie Hope, Sean Driscoll's "Rock 'n Roar Dino Show", Mike Clemmons with "Fun with Electricity", Ruby the Clown and magical educator, Chad Crews.
