United Way of Greater Greensboro recently announced the 2011-2012 campaign goal of $11.3 million, an increase of 5% over the previous year. United Way programs and initiatives are changing lives and strengthening our community. Just in the past year, the community's support of United Way prepared over 12,000 youth for success in school through outstanding mentoring, tutoring, and after-school care programs. Read More

2011 Handbags Against Homelessness

Get your Bidding Paddles Ready
Women's Leadership is hosting their 2nd annual Handbags Against...Homelessness Live Auction on October 27th from 5:30 to 8:30pm to benefit Partners Ending Homelessness.

Partners Ending Homelessness encourages public understanding about homelessness and coordinates a strong system of care to increase self sufficiency in Guilford County. United Way of Greater Greensboro supports Partners Ending Homelessness as an initiative of the 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness. By 2016, this plan is set to end chronic homelessness and reduce all types of homelessness, which improves the quality of life for all residents of Guilford County.

If you are have designer handbags that you would like to donate for auction, plan to drop off your purse on Wednesday, October 5th, between 4 to 7pm at United Way of Greater Greensboro's office (1500 Yanceyville St.).   Read More

Young Leaders Trunk or Treat
Save the Date:
Sun., October 30th  2-4pm

Get ready to put on your best costume, decorate your car, and join our Young Leaders as they throw a party in our parking lot! Kids (of all ages) are welcome to trick-or-treat from trunk to trunk and celebrate the great things going on at United Way.

9/11 Corporate Engagement Day
In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of September 11th, nearly 15 local businesses participated in volunteer projects throughout the area on Friday, September 9th. From painting, to landscaping, to reading books with young children, these corporate volunteers made a huge difference for many local nonprofits. Thank you to all of the companies who took the day to Live United!
