Returning Workshops in 2012

We are working to add program descriptions to our website soon to help you prepare for the upcoming National Patient Education Conference in Dallas. Many of our most popular speakers will be back. Here are two experts who are featured this year:

Heidi Jacobe, M.D., will present two workshops at this year's conference:

  • Skin Involvement in Scleroderma: Causes and Treatment - Skin problems are frequently encountered by patients with scleroderma. They can range from the skin thickening and hardening experienced by the majority of patients to itching, dryness, ulcerations, and changes in skin color. Explore the underlying causes for these skin changes, treatment, and general advice for skin care.
  • Localized Scleroderma: Localized scleroderma is a form of scleroderma restricted to the skin and sometimes the underlying muscle and tissue. Learn more about the diagnosis, complications, treatment and management of localized scleroderma.

Another returning speaker is Janet Poole, Ph.D., OTR/L, FAOTA. She will present "Occupational Therapy - What It Has to Offer a Person With Scleroderma." In this session, she will provide exercise programs and suggestions for accomplishing the tasks of daily living. Our presenter will demonstrate exercises and the use of assistive devices, alternative movement methods, and energy conservation. Audience questions are encouraged.

We hope to see you in Dallas at the conference Friday, July 27, through Sunday, July 29. To learn more, click here.
