Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Volunteers are needed.  Congregational Care is looking for people to help knit prayer shawls for the  Prayer Shawl Ministry.  Contact Valerie Novatny for more information.

Meal Ministry:
There are times when a home-cooked meal is the perfect way to help someone in our church family.  Consider being a meal provider through the Meal Ministry.  Contact Valerie Novatny to sign up.

Making a Difference:

Meramec Elementary School (Balancing the Scales):
Despite the cold and snow and sort-of ice, school students carry on, and the kids at Meramec Elementary are no exception.  My first Thursday of tutoring for the 2018 half of the school year rolled around and I was dreading these - unfocused kids wishing they were still on vacation, harried teachers, chaos in the halls, but I was wrong.

I had the privilege to work with two preschoolers and four kindergarten students, all ready to learn!  Their enthusiasm made my job of helping them much easier.  These kids reminded us that often, we expect the worst but God opens our eyes to the best.

Haven House:
In May of 2017 my two
friends Lee Foster and Doug Nash told me about the opportunity to drive the Haven House shuttle van and deliver folks to the different hospitals around town.  I know my way around St. Louis so I said sure I'd give it a try.  What a rewarding opportunity it has been.  I have met some of the nicest people from all over the United States as well as Europe.  I try to be a good tour guide and point out all the wonderful sights that St. Louis has to offer.

In addition to meeting everyone, I have had the joy of seeing some of the miracles that come from these different hospitals where these patients are being treated. My wife, Mary, and I have also been part of the monthly Haven House work teams that help out in many ways at Haven House with many different projects (cleaning, carpet cleaning, painting, etc.).  I love serving at Haven House.  The entire staff at Haven House are some of the most caring people I have ever been around.
