Making a Difference:

International Institute Volunteer Opportunities:
Mentoring a New Refugee Family : Sunday, February 4, there will be a brief informational meeting at 10:00 & 11:30 am to learn about how you can make a difference with International Institute's New Refugee Family Mentoring Program. Questions? Contact Lee Foster.

Cell Phone Ministry:Did you or someone you know get a new cell phone for Christmas?  Do you have old mobile phones cluttering your drawers? Please consider donating them to the International Institute to be given to new refugees. Phones are necessary for the new arrivals to have contact with the Institute as well as jobs, school and medical clinics. We are collecting ANY phones that work from old flip phones to unused smart phones and, if still available, the chargers. Those with cracked usable screens are also accepted.

We ask that you wipe all data by returning the phone to factory settings and remove the SIM card. (If you need help with this please contact   Denise Denner.)  Please place in a Ziploc bag and include a note with your name, contact info and the phone service carrier -ATT, Sprint, Verizon, etc or unlocked. Place in the box at church in the Cell Phone Ministry mailbox located across from the Mission Wall in the lobby. If you have any questions or need help wiping the phone please contact Denise Denner at 314-288-6413.

King Foods:
I would like to let you know that the King Foods program is making a big difference in people's lives.  Richard and I have been ordering from the program since it started at Living Word. We are always very happy with the quality and choices that we have received.  For Thanksgiving we bought the Thanksgiving Box and cooked a great and complete dinner for a man who recently moved to the St. Louis area and is residing in Assisted-Living.  We heard that he was going to be alone and is very lonely. We asked him if we could join him on Thanksgiving day and bring the meal and he was so happy.  He was so appreciative for the delicious meal and thankful for the fellowship.

This ministry is helping to make a difference in people's lives that you are not even aware of.  I know there are many other families, elderly and residents that would benefit from this great program.

Warm regards,
Christina Pettibone
