GENESEE VALLEY HUNT PARADE & OPENING OF THE HUNT
September 23, 7:30 AM Downtown Geneseo
The Opening Meet marks the beginning of the formal foxhunting season. Hounds, staff and subscribers traditionally ride up Geneseo's Main Street at 7:30 AM from the Wadsworth Homestead to the Hartford House at the north end, and off into the countryside from there. The sight of so many riders of all ages and sound of so many hooves on the pavement are stirring.

MARKET ON MAIN
Market on Main officially opens its doors on Tuesday, September 12th with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10am. What started out as a hobby for life-long Geneseo resident and owner Meghan Bucci is now her passion. The goal is to provide shoppers in Geneseo and the surrounding area with unique and affordable gifts and decor items without having to drive to Rochester. They will even create custom gift baskets for any occasion. Shoppers will be excited about the great selection of items offered at this one-of-kind gift shop at 45 Main Street. PULITZER PRIZE-WINNING AUTHOR HEATHER ANN THOMPSON LECTURE

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Heather Ann Thompson will deliver a lecture on the Attica Prison uprising of 1971. Her talk, "The Attica Prison Uprising and Why It Matters Today," will occur on the 46th anniversary of the uprising, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 7 p.m. in Newton Hall, Room 202, on the SUNY Geneseo campus. The talk is free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow.

BIG TREE WALK

You are invited to walk to the site where the Big Tree once stood. 220 years after the signing of the Big Tree Treaty and 160 years after the fall of the Big Tree, visit the Big Tree site to learn about the tree, treaty, and hear about efforts underway to preserve the last remaining section of the Big Tree so future generations can see and learn about this important part of history at the museum.

The 1st Annual CASA-Trinity of Livingston County Run 4 Recovery 5k Run/Walk will take a path through the village of Dansville and end at the Dansville Community Center where a day-long Recovery Celebration is being held. Registration fee is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 12 and under. Each participant will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Proceeds go to CASA-Trinity to support treatment and prevention efforts.
