TEACHERS AWARDED CULTURAL TRIPS TO ENLIVEN LOCAL ARTS EDUCATION Former art teacher Gail Thomas Peacock has made a leadership gift to McColl Center for Visual Art to establish the Gail Thomas Peacock Art Teacher-in-Residence and Travel Awards. Her contribution directly supports the residency of current CMS art teacher David Theissen and provides three CMS art teachers with Travel Awards to visit New York City and Washington, D.C. to experience world-class museums and cultural amenities. Her support of the Art Teacher-in-Residence Program marks the largest individual contribution the Center has received for a program that has been historically supported by corporations and foundations. The ATIR Program creates residency opportunities for the dedicated art teachers in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and has helped to transform and enliven arts education in the Charlotte region over the last decade. >> Keep reading to learn more about Gail's support
