What a great week we have had! Our 4
th
Grade IB Exhibition was spectacular! All of our students worked very hard and presented their research topic with skill and confidence. The musical performance capping off the evening was heartwarming. I am so proud of our students and so grateful to so many staff and volunteers who made this possible: Mr. Henry for his fearless leadership, Ms. Steiner for preparing the students for the musical portion of the evening, our fourth grade team - Ms. DiPiero, Mr. Grahl, Ms. Hammer, Ms. Malone and their paraprofessionals Ms. Kilroy and Mr. Burrell for their consistent guidance and direction, Ms. Yarnell, Ms. Miller, and Ms. Billie for their support, all the IB Mentors: Mr. Ackerman, Ms. Allen-Jackson, Ms. Cremer, Mrs. Durkalski, Ms. Ely, Mr. Filippakis, Dr. Herbruck, Ms. Kuehnle, Ms. Kuhel, Mr. Langford, Mr. Miller, Mrs. (Kristen) Miller, Ms. Rhodes, Mrs. Rucinski, Mrs. Singerman, Ms. Steiner, Ms. Strong, Ms. Stubbs, Mr. Vokes, Ms. Weisbarth, Mr. Wells and Ms. Workman and our custodial staff for the building preparations and cleanup.
Our Read, Baby, Read book club had a fun field trip to the Cleveland Public Library for the year-end, city-wide celebration. Thank you to Ms. Scott for organizing this and to our parent volunteers who accompanied them.
On Thursday morning, the weather was perfect for a Lomond tradition: Chalk Fest. This is a fun event for our students which honors the memory of a Lomond 4
th
grade student who passed away in 2008. This student, Sarita Herron, loved art and, after her passing, her parents established a fund to enhance art instruction at Lomond. Chalk Fest was established as a time to celebrate the love of drawing! THANK YOU to Mr. Kalan for organizing and leading this event!
Thank you to our PTO for organizing the Ice Cream Social! This is always a great way to cap off a great year celebrating our school community.
I wish you all a relaxing Memorial Day weekend.

Parent Input to Class Placement Form
|
|
In a few short weeks, principals and teachers will begin the process of planning classes for the next school year. This process involves a review of student information by the instructional staff. It also includes an overview of each student’s reading and math performance, academic strengths and weaknesses, a discussion of special learning needs, as well as social and emotional maturity. We feel this is very important in helping each child achieve academic success.
We welcome your input if you feel there is additional information that needs to be considered in this process. If you would like to provide insights regarding your child, please complete the placement form that is attached
HERE
,
posted on the school’s website or available in the office. Our goal is to provide all parents with an opportunity to share information regarding their child’s interests, learning style and personality.
If you choose to provide additional information, please return the placement form by Friday, June 1
st
to the school office. While we value your insights, we ask that you
refrain
from requesting a specific teacher or placement with specific peers. Please understand that such requests make it difficult to meet the needs of every student.
Thank you.
