LOMOND VISITORS

As you are all aware, Shaker Schools welcomes parents into our schools to volunteer, help in the classroom or even just to observe. It is important, however, that we are aware at all times (even when walking your child into school) of all visitors to Lomond. Please be sure at all times to check in at the school office and to sign IN and OUT when visiting Lomond School. Thank you.

Principal's Corner
The Energy Bus

On Tuesday of this week, we held our Energy Bus all-school assembly. As we did last year, we are using the Energy Bus book as a guide to encourage a positive outlook in our students. For the next few weeks, I will present the ‘Rules of the Bus’ as told in Jon Gordon’s The Energy Bus for Kids book. Thank you to Ms. McCauley, our Assistant Principal, and our PBIS team (Ms. Billie, Ms. Folkman, Ms. Hammer, Ms. Gainford, Mrs. Marencik & Ms. Sullivan) for re-‘energizing’ this program!

Rule #1: Create a Positive Vision
“When you are on the bus going to school, think about having a great day. When you are on the bus going home, picture yourself having a great night. When you think about your future, imagine yourself accomplishing your goals and dreams … if you can see it, you can create it. If you have a vision, then you also have the power to make it happen.”

We all need to think positive thoughts, even children. Many children are naturally optimistic and hopeful. But sometimes children need to make a conscious effort to be positive. We want to teach our students that if they can envision it, it can happen. Our parents can help in this effort by discussing their child’s vision for the day or the evening.  Help your child to imagine getting an A on a quiz. Help him/her to envision scoring a goal or a homerun. Help them to envision getting a good rest and waking up happy and ready to take on the day. Try it for yourself and see how it works!
Try it for yourself and see how it works! There is an adult version of this book:

Fathers Walk 2017 – Wednesday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m.
Calling all dads, granddads, uncles, and/or any other male caregivers to our Lomond students! The Fathers Walk is a special event just for you. The Fathers Walk is a county-wide initiative and is sponsored by the Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative, Passages, I Am A Dream and the Healthy Fathering Collaborative.

Lomond has participated for several years now and we love to see all our students being brought to school by the men in their life. Please plan to bring your child to school on Sept. 20 and stay for coffee and donuts!

Sincerely,
