Open House for Parents/Curriculum Night
Thank you for coming to our Curriculum Night. I hope you found it helpful and informative. I encourage all of our parents to maintain regular communication with your child’s teacher(s). You are a vital piece of the puzzle!
Traffic Safety at Drop-Off & Pick-Up Time
Earlier this week, each family received a robocall from me regarding traffic safety. We reserve robocalls for very important information, and I want to again stress the seriousness of traffic safety around school at drop-off and pick-up time. This week, I have observed parents allowing children to cross the street when arriving or when being picked up. We cannot allow this. Children are to cross the street at the crosswalks only. Please take the opportunity this upcoming long weekend to show your child where the crosswalks are located around Lomond and to stress that a crosswalk is the only location where they may cross the street. Again, I thank you for your support in keeping all Lomond students safe.
School Opening
We are off to a great start! After a short first week, we settled in with a full 5-day week. Thank you for getting your children to school on time, well rested and excited to learn. Teachers have spent the week reviewing the Essential Agreements and getting routines back in place.
This year, we are continuing to develop our students’ positive outlook. We are again using Jon Gordon’s
Energy Bus
story to teach children the ‘Rules of the Bus’ which include:
- Create a Positive Vision
- Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy
- No Bullies Allowed
- Love Your Passengers
- Enjoy the Ride
Next week, we will kick off this initiative with an assembly about the Energy Bus.
Birthday Celebrations
We know that our students love celebrating their birthday in school. We love it too. However there are increasingly a number of students who cannot participate, either due to allergies, dietary restrictions or religious beliefs. As a result, we are reevaluating school birthday celebrations.
This year, we ask that birthday celebrations consist only of one healthy snack.
Please do not send any candy or goody bags. Your child will be recognized on his/her special day in various ways (e.g. birthday crown, pencils, birthday song, etc.)
Thank you for support!
I wish everyone a restful Labor Day weekend. Please encourage your students to read!
