Happenings from HQ
APPAM elections are underway! For contested positions, APPAM members in good standing received ballots and voting instructions via a separate e-mail on Dec. 15th. Nominee headshots and statements, were also accessible in that message. Electronic voting will continue until January 14th. Once the votes are counted, the winners will be named to the Policy Council and the Executive Committee. For more information about the candidates, check out the dedicated webpage.
Thank you to everyone who nominated a Student Member to the Policy Council. The appointed Student Member will be announced soon.
The next Institutional Representatives meeting will be held on March 31 at The Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. More information is forthcoming.

Call for Submissions
Submissions for the 2017 International Research Conference in Brussels will be accepted until January 31, 2017. The event, themed "Public Policy and Governance Beyond Borders,” will be held July 13 - 14. Find more information here.
Submissions for both the CA and DC Regional Student Conferences are currently being accepted. Please pass along this notice to both Masters and Ph.D. students. For information on the submission process, please direct students to visit the webpage. Submissions will be accepted until January 18, 2017.

APPAM/Sanford School Institutional
Member Forum
On February 17, APPAM and the Sanford School at Duke University will host an institutional forum exploring the role of practitioners in making policy, researcher/policymaker partnerships, and some strategies to bridge the gap between policy and practice.
This event,
entitled "Bridging Research and Policy: What Universities Can and Should Do"
, will bring
together distinguished experts from academia and the government to share their work and provide insight on next steps for research, practice, and policy. The preliminary agenda can be found here. More information, including registration and a full agenda, will be available later this month.
