Spencer Foundation Award
Susan Dynarski will receive the 2017
Spencer Foundation Award
, recognizing noteworthy contributions through research and analysis in the field of education policy and management. Her research focuses on the effectiveness of charter schools, the optimal design of financial aid, the price elasticity of private school attendance, the relationship between postsecondary schooling and labor market outcomes, and the effect of high school reforms on academic achievement and educational attainment.
Steven D. Gold Award
John Yinger will receive the 2017
Steven D. Gold Award
,which recognizes someone who has made a significant contribution to public financial management in the field of intergovernmental relations and state and local finance. Yinger’s research focuses on racial and ethnic discrimination in housing and mortgage markets, as well as state and local public finance, particularly education.
PhD Dissertation Award
Mallory Flowers will receive the 2017 PhD Dissertation Award for her work examining green certifications behavior and technology via compliance pathways under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a voluntary certification program for sustainability. Flowers has completed her dissertation in the
Georgia Tech School of Public Policy
and has accepted a postdoctoral position at the
Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University
in the Netherlands.
Honories will accept the awards on Friday, November 3, at the 2017 Fall Research Conference in Chicago.

Interested in Becoming a Member of the APPAM Policy Council?
|
|
Each year, the APPAM Institutional Members elect one of their members to serve on the APPAM Board of Directors, or the APPAM Policy Council, as its called. The term is 4 years and the election will be held in December. Serving on the Board is a great opportunity to become more engaged with APPAM and make decisions that impact the strategic direction of the organization. The Policy Council meets twice a year and all Board Members serve on at least one committee throughout the year.
