Puffin gets some lovin'!
Home for the Holidays!

"Going Home" it's  paws down our very favorite phrase here at Sonoma Humane Society! Used interchangeably with the term "being adopted", it fills our hearts and si g nals the culmination of an animal's journey with us.  Thanks to your support, we're on track to send close to 1,700 animals home in 2016!

Waylon's sweet new family.
As this year draws to a close, we're reflecting on the fuzzy faces who've gone home this past month. Some, like   Puffin, arrive in perilous health and need life-saving   medical intervention before they can be cuddled to sleep in loving arms each night.

Others like Waylon, whose past experiences made him sensitive around children, cats and other dogs, require specialized behavior support to  help them find homes perfectly suited to adore and accommodate their unique personalities.

Rebel Ann couldn't wait
to go home!

And each  animal - even those with straight forward health and behavior needs (like Rebel Ann,  w ho was with us for 97 days before she found true love at the Healdsburg Center!) relies on us to keep them safe,  warm, nourished and loved.

These are  just a few of the many pets who will be celebrating this holiday season as loved and  treasured family members - all made possible with your support!

Donate today and help give the gift of "going home" to the next animal who needs us!

Who else is still waiting patiently waiting to "go home"? (Read more...)

Trainer's Corner

Have you recently adopted a new dog or puppy? Is your furry family member ignoring you? Teaching your dog to pay attention to his name is a basic skill that bears repeating.  If your dog knows to pay attention when you call his name, he's paying attention to you - a fundamental component in training other cues.  It's also an important skill to help keep him from getting into unsafe situations.

Our Training Team is here to help you build a strong relationship with your 4-legged friend.
Check out our fun classes and workshops!
